Putting a special model together is no small task. Often we’re treated to some cool colors, a different interior, or maybe wheels. Rolls-Royce is introducing their Black Badge Spectre which is the most powerful ever. Coming in at 659 horsepower (485kW) with 1075 Nm of torque available in ‘Spirited Mode’. This is what we want in a special edition. It even comes in a retro 80s-90s “club culture” purple which is going to snap those already turned heads.
We had Shivaum on-site for the release!
Not just the most powerful Spectre ever, this is the most powerful Rolls-Royce. You might have even seen one on the street, as there was a quiet, early release for these cars to special customers who begged for it. Rolls used two innovative powertrain creations to get to these big numbers. First, they’ve got the Infinity button on the steering wheel marked by ∞. When this button is pressed, much like other automakers’ one-button power on demand, the full stable of horsepower is released with a more direct throttle response.
Spirited mode is the other way they’ve unlocked the most powerful Rolls ever. At a stop, depress the brake and throttle at the same time, a haptic and visual response initiates letting you know this Spectre wants to spook the occupants. Release the brake and feel the fully amplified 1075 Nm of torque as it launches you to the moon. Zero to sixty MPH will come in at a reported 4.1 seconds by utilizing this launch control system.
It’s faster, but they’ve also improved the minutia of quick cars. The steering weight was increased. Roll stabilization is adjusted for more steering input feel with reduced roll in the bends. Reduced squatting with enhanced dampers were utilized to give the best of a driver’s car and that of the ‘feted Magic Carpet Ride’ associated with Rolls-Royce.
The obvious changes are on the outside, that paint. Oh. My. God. That color is perfect. I happen to be a big fan of purple, but what Rolls has done is create a flawless and timeless shade. They’re calling this color Vapour Violet and claiming it is inspired by the ‘neon ambience of 1980s and 1990s club culture.’ This color can be spec’d with an Iced Black hood or if the purple isn’t your speed, they’ve got 44,000 other colors you can have with the Black Badge trim.
Cheers!
