What is its dial, case and strap features?

Hublot Big Bang Sapphire Sky Blue.
Image: The case and dial feature an abundance of details. The matte sky blue accents contrast well with the polished sapphire crystal case. Notice the 6 H-shaped titanium screws on the polished sapphire crystal bezel, a signature design aesthetic of the brand. The screws are also present near the lugs, and on the large barrel cover at 3 o’clock. The hour-markers are part applied and part floating, a design touch that provide an element of lightness. I love the circular power reserve indicator with the red border, indicating the remaining power reserve (in number of days). Notice the hour and minute scale on the flange.

Dial: It features a matte sky blue coloured skeleton dial. The central hour and minute hands, small second hand at 9 o’ clock and applied hour-markers are coated with luminescent material.

Case: The case is crafted from polished sapphire crystal with a “sky-blue transparency.” It measures 44 mm (diameter). Dial side and the polished sapphire crystal caseback feature a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment. Water resistant up to 5 ATM or approximately 50 metres. The watch comes with a sky blue coloured lined structured rubber strap fitted with a deployant buckle clasp made from titanium.

Is it powered by a manual-winding movement?

Yes. The Meca-10 is an innovative design “with an architecture inspired by mechanical construction systems.” It comprises of HUB1201, an in-house skeletonised manual movement that drives the central hours and minutes, small seconds at 9 o’clock and power reserve indicator at 6 o’clock. It measures 34.8 mm (diameter) * 6.8 mm (thickness), comprises 223 parts and 24 jewels, beats at a luxurious frequency of 3 Hz or 21,600 vph, and delivers a minimum power reserve of 240 hours or 10 days delivered by two parallel mainspring barrels.

The movement “features an unconventional rack-and-pinion system with sliding racks moving along a 9 o’clock to 3 o’clock axis, creating a distinctive dual power reserve display that has shaped the identity of the collection.”
