Huawei has brought the HUAWEI WATCH Buds 2 to the UAE. It’s a smartwatch that stores two wireless earbuds in its case. As a result, you carry your watch and your audio as one device rather than two. It sells for AED 1,999 and holds 64 GB of storage for apps and music. The watch pairs with Android 9.0 or iOS 13.0 phones and later through the Huawei Health app. Every purchase also includes a free three-month HUAWEI Health+ membership, which adds training plans and guided meditations.
How do the hidden earbuds work?
Each earbud weighs about 4 g and uses a magnetic array, so it attaches to the watch cover at any angle. Adaptive identification then removes the need for a fixed left or right bud. That means you can wear either one in either ear. Once you slot the earbuds back inside, the watch recharges them through 360-degree surround charging rings. You can also control playback, skip tracks, and switch noise cancellation from the watch face so that the phone can stay in your pocket.

How do the earbuds sound and handle calls?
A planar diaphragm drives each earbud, while a triple adaptive EQ algorithm tunes the sound to your ears. In addition, you can switch between active noise cancellation and awareness mode. Furthermore, you have three ear-tip sizes to help seal out surrounding noise. For calls, a bone-conduction microphone works alongside DNN-based noise cancellation to make your voice stand out above background noise. Touch gestures handle the basics, too: tap the earbuds or the area in front of your ears to answer, pause, or switch modes.

Huawei builds the case from aerospace-grade titanium alloy and rates it at 200 per cent better wear resistance than the first model. The watch body weighs 54.5 g without the strap, which is 12 g less than the original. The screen features a 1.5-inch AMOLED display with 466 x 466 resolution and up to 3000-nit peak brightness. On a typical charge, meanwhile, the watch lasts up to three days, while the earbuds deliver about three hours of listening with noise cancellation switched on.

What health and fitness features does it offer?
In terms of health, the HUAWEI WATCH Buds 2 tracks sleep, heart rate variability, and blood oxygen saturation, and it performs pulse wave arrhythmia analysis to detect atrial fibrillation and alerts on premature beats. The press materials also list studies on heart health, sleep apnoea detection, and high-blood-sugar risk assessment. Beyond the sensors, Emotional Wellbeing 2.0 maps up to 12 emotional states, while Health Insights consolidates your readings into a single overview with tailored advice. For training, the device adds more than 90 workout modes. However, it is not waterproof, so you should keep it dry. Note that Huawei states these health features are for reference only, not for medical diagnosis.
