What is the news, then?
Austrian Motorcycle maker KTM has unveiled the 2027 790 Duke, featuring sharper styling and revised ergonomics.
What is the 2027 KTM 790 Duke?
The 2027KTM 790 Duke is the latest version of KTM’s middleweight naked motorcycle, positioned as a major evolution of the 790 Duke’s “scalpel” identity.
The new 2027 KTM Duke 790 is now designed to look bolder and sharper while retaining the performance character that has defined the whole Scalpel identity over the years.
What has changed in the design?
For the 2027 model, the biggest visual changes are at the front, where KTM has given the bike a redesigned LED headlight, a more sculpted front section, reshaped bodywork, and a more muscular tank area, while the rear also features a much cleaner overall design resembling KTM’s bigger naked offerings.
Has the engine changed?
The 2027 model 790 Duke continues to be powered by the same Euro 5+ compliant 799cc LC8c parallel-twin. The parallel-twin develops 105 hp in standard trim, while some markets get a 95 hp version for licensing reasons.
What about suspension and brakes?
KTM engineers have also updated the chassis hardware with WP APEX suspension, including a 43 mm USD fork and a revised rear shock. The motorcycle now gets new WP radial brakes and a steering damper as standard equipment, which KTM claims will improve stability, braking feel, and offer better overall control.
Is the riding position different?
Yes, KTM has extensively revised the rider ergonomics for the 2027 model year, equipping the bike with a new handlebar, repositioned rider and pillion footpegs, and a redesigned seat; all these have been added to tame the aggressive nature of the 790 Duke and make it more natural and easy-going for everyday riding while retaining its sporty character.
What tech features are included?
For the 2027 790 Duke, KTM hasn’t completely overhauled the electronics package; the tech package features a revised electronics setup focused on rider control rather than headline-grabbing gimmicks.
The 2027 790 Duke comes with Bosch ABS, including Supermoto ABS functionality; a new 5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity; four riding modes; traction control, launch control, and an optional quickshifter.
How does it compare with the outgoing model?
Compared with the outgoing 790 Duke, the 2027 model is more polished in design, lighter by about 2 kg, and has a more refined suspension and braking package with refined rider ergonomics.
The 2027 model year keeps the same core engine but improves the parts that affect real-world handling and comfort, making it the more complete motorcycle.
