Goodwood Festival of Speed 2023: a real-life Forza Horizon festival

From the latest and greatest supercars and hypercars to celebs such as Sebastian Vettel and Jenson Button, here is why Goodwood FOS is the UK’s best car event of the year.

The UK car scene is growing by the minute. More and more fans are appearing with a love for different cars within the automotive world, and it’s truly amazing to see.

But one event occurs every single summertime that brings all those people together, and it’s called the Goodwood Festival of Speed that’s held down in Chichester, West Sussex.

This year, like many, was a stellar display of the latest and greatest supercars and hypercars, to racing legends such as Sebastian Vettel who even drove a lap in his own Formula One car.

But another reason why this year was so special is that Porsche was the headliner, celebrating its 75th anniversary. This meant the whole event was covered from head to foot in Porsches, including every model of 911 you could possibly think of. There were even giant art installations using Porsches (pictured below) which certainly grabbed our attention.

However, if Porsche isn’t your thing, then there’s also the famed ‘Supercar Paddock’ that’s home to some of the very latest supercars such as the Mercedes-AMG ONE, Pagani Utopia, the new BMW M3 Touring, the Ferrari SP3 Daytona and the mad-looking Czinger 21C.

This is truly an event for supercar lovers, and what’s even better is that most of the display cars get a shot at racing up the famous Goodwood Hillclimb to try and set the fastest lap time.

Unfortunately, no records were set this year as the McMurtry Spéirling still holds the record of 39.08 seconds from last year, but it was still impressive to watch cars such as the Bugatti Bolide and Ferrari KC23 have a stab at it. This also included some classics like the Ferrari 250 GTO and McLaren F1 – two cars you never see, let alone going at full chat up a hill.

But these supercars weren’t the only stars this year because in 2023 we saw the arrival of a number of famous faces including Sebastian Vettel, Jenson Button, Jackie Stewart, Mick Schumacher and actress Renne Zellweger, to name a few.

All in all, Goodwood 2023 was one of the most successful events that have ever taken place with more than 200,000 people visiting over the three-day event, despite it losing Saturday due to bad weather.

In fact, it was so popular that next year’s tickets are already on sale on Goodwood’s website, so if you’re in or around the UK next summer it’s definitely worth a visit, and you may even see a member from team TCI there in 2024!

If you want to see what a day in the life at Goodwood is like then check out our reel on The Cornea Impression’s Instagram as it shows all the latest supercars that were on display – including the raw-sounding McLaren Solus GT.
