The new Citroën C3 shows its face for the first time
The city car will debut the brand’s new identity and could take the form of a small SUV
After a seven-year career, the current Citroën C3 is preparing to hand over the baton to a fourth generation that will be decisive for the brand. The new model will inaugurate Citroën’s new stylistic identity and will also be the first in the range to sport the brand’s new logo. Another major innovation is that the city car will offer both internal combustion and electric powertrains.
A C3 inspired by the Oli concept
Placed in a document announcing the financial results of Stellantis, a first official image has already provided some interesting clues as to the style of the next C3. Unsurprisingly, the car will borrow design elements first seen on the Oli concept, such as the headlamps forming a C split into three parts. It will also make a nod to the past by adopting a logo inspired by the one chosen by André Citroën in 1919.
Two versions for the ë-C3
Add to this the fact that the C3 will be transformed into a small SUV with a squared-off silhouette, and our illustration is confirmed. It also boasts a relatively high ground clearance and, above all, roof bars. Based on a simplified version of the CMP platform, the French model will offer two electric versions. Priced at under €25,000, the first will be aimed primarily at the Dacia Spring, while the second will target the future electric Volkswagen ID.2 and Renault 5. In this case, Citroën promises a range of over 300 km.
Of course, in order to keep prices down, the city car from the chevrons will keep internal combustion engines in its pocket, which could put it under the €17,000 mark. But unlike the current model, it will do without diesel and rely solely on petrol. The fourth-generation Citroën C3 will be unveiled on 17 October and will go on sale in early 2024.
