GMC launches the 2023 Canyon pickup truck in the Middle East

It gets striking new exteriors, advanced interiors and off-road-spec functionalities

If we ever saw a beauty pageant for pickup trucks, the newly launched 2023 GMC Canyon would be a strong contender to win it. With overhauled looks comprising trimmed corners and full LED exterior lighting, and more luxurious interiors than ever before, GMC has injected a new life into its 2023 Canyon mid-sized pickup truck. And for the first time, the American carmaker is bringing its new Canyon pickup truck to the Middle East.

The new pickup truck boasts a modern exterior with a standard factory lift high and wide track, courtesy of the AT4X trim level, first seen on the 2022 Sierra pickup. The AT4X trim further embeds 33-inch MT tires, Multimatic DSSV shocks, front and rear locking differentials, underbody skid plates and the AT4X- exclusive Baja drive mode as standard.

The 2023 GMC Canyon AT4X will be the first midsize truck on the market to offer a host of segment-first key features. These include underbody cameras, heads-up display, all-digital instrument cluster and built-in Google services. The initial customers can opt for the limited-units Edition 1 package with a 30-inch off-road grille light bar, a winch by COMEUP, a performance front skid plate and an Edition 1 tailgate badge.

One might use tech-laden and advanced attributes to describe the new Canyon’s cabin. The driver can enjoy creature comforts such as a 10-camera view system and an off-road performance display to track real-time performance data such as g-force, altimeter, and pitch and roll stats on the screen. An 11.3-inch diagonal touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity and a Bose seven-speaker audio system should keep the occupants content and connected.

Powering the new 2023 Canyon is an off-road optimised 2.7-litre turbocharged engine with a 583Nm torque output. The performance of the mid-sized pickup truck gets complimented by a suite of safety and driver assistance technologies such as Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Blind Zone Steering Assist and a Safety Alert Seat.
