Italian fashion brand, Brunello Cucinelli has launched its High Summer 2025 Collection for both men and women. It blends natural materials with artisanal techniques, inspired by open waters and sunlit coastlines and is said to evoke freedom and quiet poise, apt for the perfect for sun-drenched days and effortless evenings.
The inspiration: From sailing to coastal living
The menswear collection draws from offshore sailing, with the iconic J Class yacht inspiring fluid tailoring, technical materials, and maritime accents. The womenswear captures the breezy elegance of coastal summer living, featuring natural textures, layered forms, and thoughtful details that reflect seaside ease and the glow of late afternoons.
Seasonal colour harmonies
The men’s palette tells two stories – one classic with panama and navy, rooted in nautical heritage; the other expressive, with cherry and beige for bold yet discreet contrast. These hues enliven jacquard knits and relaxed tailoring. For women, the colours reflect summer’s duality – ivory, sand, and champagne bring subtle shimmer to classic silhouettes, while tangerine and crab tones is said to add freshness, grounded by earthy hues.
Fabrics & textures: Abaca blended with wool and silk
The menswear introduces refined, innovative fabrics like abaca – sourced from the sustainable, water-resistant Musa textilis plant in the Philippines – as the season’s signature. Blended with virgin wool and silk, it is designed to create breathable, structured fabric with a denim-like finish and soft sheen, ideal for relaxed summer tailoring. The outerwear combines performance and polish in microfiber, bonded cotton, and techno-cotton gabardine with leather details; knitwear features striped polos, openwork cardigans, and nautical intarsia; and classics like chalk-stripe Bermudas and linen blazers have been reimagined as well. In womenswear, material storytelling shines through fabrics like cotton organza, lamé cotton gauze, and striped organza, blending fluidity with shimmer. These are complemented by netting and mesh knits in airy cottons and jute yarns, crafted with openwork stitches for easy summer layering.
Signature motifs
For men, the sailing spirit is woven into the collection through rope-style piping, boat-inspired graphics, and embroidered sail silhouettes across knitwear, tailoring, and outerwear. The women’s collection features three key motifs: papyrus, stripes, and nets. The Papyrus print, reimagined in a soft, layered foliage style, appears on caftans, bootcut trousers, and lightweight shirts. Stripes, ranging from wide bands to pinstripes, lend structure and a nautical feel to knits and tailoring. Net-inspired openwork knits offer texture and breathability.
Finishing touches
Menswear balances a composed yet relaxed style with unstructured blazers, drawstring Bermudas, and nautical-inspired knits, paired with feather-light technical outerwear. The collection includes accessories that enhance the maritime theme with washed suede espadrilles, woven leather belts, and canvas bags trimmed in buffalo leather. Women’s styling emphasises fluidity and balance, with belts defining softly draped silhouettes and twinwear sets. Open shirts double as lightweight jackets offer easy layering, while varied lengths and volumes add dimension. Accessories like gathered leather bags, and earth-toned sandals, enhance functionality and feminine charm.
