Oslo. That’s what Berluti has called its latest creation. Why? Well, according to the French brand, the shoe in question can be summed up quite nicely when compared to the Norwegian fjords. For the uninitiated, a fjord is a thin, long inlet of the sea between steep slopes or cliffs. Now, polish that definition with dark arctic waters with brightly painted little houses along the shores.
The Berluti Oslo showcases similar traits. Designed to replace a heavy and uncomfortable hunting boot, its exterior resembles a dark and rigid structure, whereas its interior, with its light hue, is welcoming. This polarising combination gives off a distinct vibe: elegance with practicality.
The shoe features a Goodyear assembly. Integrity is maintained through double-stitching, which involves two rows: one vertical and one horizontal. This approach also has the advantage of being flexible, as it allows for resoling without tapping the inner seam. Another standout aspect is the split toe, where the upper two leather side panels conjoin. Berluti claims Oslo is one of the “most solid” shoes.
Roomy on the inside, tough on the outside with a non-slippery sole. The French brand claims that the Oslo can be paired with just about any practical outfit, whether it’s formal trousers or baggy Bermudas. In the UAE, the derby version is priced at AED 10,200, and the Loafer comes in at AED 10,600 a pair.
