JLR India Registers 105% Growth

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) India has reported that in the first half (April to September 2023) of the current financial year, it sold 2,356 units. That equates to a growth of 105 per cent compared to the same period from last year. Delving deeper reveals that the automaker sold a record number of cars in this fiscal year’s first and second quarters. In Q2, for example, it retailed 1,308 units – a 108 per cent increase YoY. Its Q1 performance was good too, registering a 102 per cent rise in sales.

In H1 FY24, the Defender was the bestselling model for JLR India, with 1,000 sales. As far as the JLR certified pre-owned business is concerned, it also grew by 83 per cent. JLR India says the H1 order book closed 90 per cent higher than the previous year. Range Rover, Ranger Rover Sport and the Defender account for 72 per cent of the total order book.

Audi India Introduces RSA For 10 Years

In case you’re wondering, RSA here is short for Roadside Assistance. It’s a service that comes in handy if something goes wrong with the vehicle while on the move. Audi India has announced that all cars sold from October 1, 2023, will have a complimentary RSA membership for 10 years. The membership includes 24×365 coverage, 100 per cent coverage in India, travel or accommodation facilities and provision of specially-designed towing platforms. The membership also offers on-site repairs and delivery of fuel and spare keys. Last but not least, Audi India will look after the vehicle’s custody, transportation, storage and safekeeping.

Two Mercedes-Benz Touchpoints Reopen In Abu Dhabi

Emirates Motor Company, the authorised dealer partner and distributor of Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, has reopened two thoroughly revamped outlets. The first is the Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) cars showroom at the Marina Mall. The touchpoint, spanning 2,450 sqm, has enough real estate to showcase 20 pre-owned Mercedes-Benz cars and SUVs. Apart from that, there’s a barista corner for refreshments and three customer consultation areas. Owners of Mercedes-Benz EVs can also make use of the two chargers installed at the outlet.

The second touchpoint is the Mercedes-Benz Service Centre. Called Mussafah Service Centre, it covers an area of 2,500 sqm. One of the highlights of this facility is the new service lane that allows customers to drive directly inside the premises. The outlet also has six semi-private consultation areas, a barista corner, dedicated space for Mercedes-Benz Boutique, a spare parts sales counter, EV chargers, dedicated prayer rooms, six receiving bays with lifts, and 16 delivery bays.

Emirates Motor Company has also begun renovating the Al Ain Service Centre. It is scheduled to reopen next year.

Castore Opens First Store In The UAE

British sportswear brand Castore has officially set foot in the Middle East by opening its first-ever store in the region. Located at the Dubai Mall, UAE, and inaugurated a few days ago, the store will rely on the brand’s regional distribution partner, Liwa Trading Enterprises. The 70 sqm outlet has activewear collections for men and women.

Castore is available in 57 countries worldwide. Today, it is an official apparel partner for brands like Red Bull, McLaren Formula One Team, Newcastle United FC, England Cricket and the Lawn Tennis Association.

Four Boeing 787s To Join TAAG Angola Airlines’ Fleet

American aircraft manufacturer Boeing has announced that it has bagged an order for four 787 Dreamliners from TAAG Angola Airlines. The carrier’s CEO says,

The 787 option suits our intent for modern, size-wise and efficient equipment, able to progressively replace our current widebody fleet, and provide our customers with an improved flight experience.

According to Boeing, Africa’s growing aviation industry will require 1,025 aircraft over the next 20 years. The manufacturer believes that African air traffic will grow at 7.4 per cent, outpacing the global average growth of 6.1 per cent.

TAAG Angola Airlines presently operates five 777-300ER jets, three 777-200ERs and seven 737-700s to twelve destinations across Africa, China, Europe and South America.

TUS Airways Starts Flights To Dubai

On October 1, 2023, DXB (Dubai International Airport) welcomed the first flight of TUS Airways – Cyprus’ largest carrier. Operated by an Airbus A320 with flight number U8 684, it became the first scheduled service to the UAE and the Middle East region.

TUS Airways will operate flights between Larnaca and DXB’s Terminal 1 twice weekly – on Thursdays and Sundays. The airfare will start at AED 530, inclusive of taxes. This link to the Middle East will help passengers with more connecting options to other parts of the world.
