1957 Ferrari 625/250 Testarossa Wins Best of Show at The Quail 2026

A rare Ferrari takes top honours at The Quail, while 22 global debuts and more than 200 significant automobiles make this year’s gathering one of Monterey Car Week’s biggest showcases.

A 1957 Ferrari 625/250 Testarossa with 11 race victories has won Best of Show at The Quail 2026. Owned by Bruce Meyer, the Testarossa beat more than 200 entries at the prestigious Monterey Car Week gathering.

Racer John von Neumann originally commissioned the Scaglietti-bodied Ferrari that later received a 3.0-litre Testa Rossa V12. The Quail’s 23rd edition also featured 22 automotive debuts, 30 Lamborghini Diablos, and several themed classes.

Judges selected the car from a field of more than 200 entries for its design, craftsmanship, racing history, and rarity.

The Quail 2026 Winners

The Ferrari combines significant racing provenance with a unique configuration. Southern California Ferrari distributor and racer John von Neumann originally commissioned it, and it competed successfully during the 1957 season before being replaced by a 3.0-litre Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa V12.

The Scaglietti-bodied competition Ferrari recorded 11 victories during the 1957 season. After receiving the 3.0-litre 250 Testa Rossa V12, it continued to achieve victories as a privateer racing car.

This 1957 Ferrari 625/250 Testarossa is owned by Bruce Meyer, a prominent automotive collector whose collection was also featured in one of The Quail’s five classes.

What Recognition Did the Ferrari Receive?

The Best of Show Ferrari was inducted into the Rolex Circle of Champions, a tradition recognising outstanding automotive achievements. The honour accompanied the car’s Best of Show victory at The Quail 2026.

Bruce Meyer received a specially engraved Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust 36 following the Ferrari’s Best of Show victory. Luca Bernasconi, president and CEO of Rolex USA, presented the watch.

  • A 1965 Porsche 911 owned by Marc Davidian received the Spirit of the Quail award. It was one of the other major honours presented during the 2026 event.
  • The Hagerty Drivers Foundation Award went to a 1962 Lincoln Continental owned by Richard Plavetich and Susan Denton.
  • The 1994 Lamborghini Diablo VT JOTA, owned by the Caretakers Collection, received the Magneto Editor’s Choice Award. The model was also prominently featured in The Quail’s dedicated Lamborghini Diablo class.

More than 200 iconic vehicles were presented at the 2026 gathering. The field included historic competition cars, collector automobiles, and significant examples from different periods of automotive history.

The Quail 2026 featured 22 debuts from OEMs and speciality manufacturers worldwide. This gave the event a strong focus on contemporary automotive design alongside its traditional collection of historic cars.

The five featured classes were 100th Anniversary of Route 66, Lamborghini Diablo, The Legacy of Japanese GTs, Ferrari F40, and The Bruce Meyer Collection. Together, they covered American automotive culture, European supercars, Japanese GT heritage, and the history of collector cars.

The Quail 2026 Winners

The Lamborghini Diablo class featured 30 examples of the model. The display celebrated one of Lamborghini’s most recognisable supercars and formed one of the event’s central themed collections.

The Ferrari F40 class focused on one of Ferrari’s most revered supercars. It formed one of the five featured classes at the 2026 event alongside the Lamborghini Diablo and Legacy of Japanese GTs displays.

The Legacy of Japanese GTs class highlighted the craftsmanship and performance heritage of Japan’s legendary grand touring cars. Vehicles from the class also participated in a synchronised engine display during the event.

What Happened During The Quail 2026?

The 100th Anniversary of Route 66 display honoured the history, adventure, and cultural influence of the iconic American highway. The celebration focused on its lasting connection with automotive culture.

Vehicles from the Legacy of Japanese GTs, Ferrari F40, Lamborghini Diablo, and Custom Coachwork classes took part in a synchronised ‘roar of engines’ across the show field.

The annual Fireside Chats featured automotive-community discussions hosted by RJ De Vera and Maurice Merrick. The sessions gave guests access to stories, insights, and perspectives from their experiences within the automotive community.

Broad Arrow Auctions became the official auction partner of The Quail by The Peninsula for the first time in 2026. Its involvement added a dedicated collector-vehicle auction element to the event.
