Lotus has launched the new Emira 420 Sport in the Middle Eastern market, adding another flagship variant to the Emira line-up. It features improved performance levels, retuned chassis settings, better aerodynamics, and lightweight parts options compared to other Emira variants. In the United Arab Emirates, the Emira 420 Sport will be supplied by AGMC, the authorised Lotus Cars distributor in that country.
What engine powers the Lotus Emira 420 Sport?
The Emira 420 Sport comes with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine delivering 416 BHP power and 500 Nm torque. The power reaches the rear wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Lotus claims that the car takes 3.9 seconds for 0-100 kmph acceleration, achieves 200 kmph in 12.47 seconds, completes the standing quarter-mile in 11.91 seconds and can reach a claimed top speed of 300 kmph. The company also says that the car accelerates from 80-120 kmph in 2.4 seconds.
What modifications were made to the chassis and handling?
The 420 Sport version of the Emira is 5 mm lower than the standard version and has a sport chassis that offers improved suspension geometry and steering response.
The Lotus Lightweight Handling Pack is an optional package that offers the car Multimatic two-way adjustable dampers, which allow independent tuning of compression and rebound. This package also lowers the weight of the car by 25 kg due to the use of a titanium exhaust system, lithium-ion battery and carbon-fibre louvred tailgate.
What aerodynamic changes have there been?
The Emira 420 Sport is fitted with several aerodynamic upgrades, such as an updated front splitter, revised bumper inserts, wheel arch vents, extended side skirts, bigger side air intakes and a longer rear lip spoiler.
As reported by the manufacturer, these updates deliver 25kg more downforce than on the regular Emira without adding any aerodynamic drag.
The cooling system has also been revised and now includes improved airflow to the radiators (up to 15%) and increased airflow through the exhaust valve (up to 30%). There is also a special track specification which provides better airflow for the central radiator and front brakes when driving at the circuit.
What exterior and interior features does it offer?
The Emira 420 Sport is the first variant in the Emira family to feature exposed carbon-fibre parts for the exterior, namely, the front splitter, wheel arch vents, side skirts, side air intakes, rear spoiler and rear diffuser surround.
The initial colour is Tangelo Orange, but customers can also order the car with 15-spoke forged alloy wheels, dark-tinted rear lights and different finishes for accent colours, brake callipers and coachlines.
The inside of the vehicle features black Nappa leather seating combined with perforated Alcantara seat coverings. The vehicle also has a Tangelo Orange interior styling theme option together with carbon fibre gear shift paddles, custom 420 Sport tread plates and a carbon fibre pack for the interior.
What technology is included in the Emira 420 Sport?
The Track Pro app is available for drivers who plan to use their cars on the track. This app has capabilities of timing laps, predictive timing, video synchronisation, and telemetry analysis.
The Emira 420 Sport also joins the Emira line-up for the 2027 model year, including Emira Turbo, Emira Turbo SE and Emira V6 SE. Lotus is also unveiling the removable tinted glass roof panels for the Emira line-up.
Lotus has officially announced the availability of the Emira 420 Sport in the Middle Eastern market. Pricing, orders, and customer delivery dates for the Emira 420 Sport by AGMC in the UAE have not been announced yet.
