What Is the McLaren McL 6GT?
McLaren has released the McL 6GT concept at the 2026 Monterey Car Week as an advanced development prototype for its planned future supercar. The McLaren 6GT concept is inspired by the McLaren M6GT, a road car concept by the company’s founder, Bruce McLaren.
A production model is scheduled for 2028. The vehicle is set to fill the niche above McLaren’s existing model lineup and to show the design and technical approach of the future supercar.
What Is the Relationship Between the McL 6GT and the Original M6GT?
The McLaren McL 6GT concept is inspired by the McLaren M6GT concept. The original concept was based on the M6A Can-Am racer and featured a low, wide body designed for maximum aerodynamic efficiency.
The new design also uses similarly low ratios with a low nose design and a rear Kammback styling. Its roofline extends to the rear deck and the engine cover, providing an uninterrupted design from the outside. The cabin is located in the middle of the body and is not an addition.

What is the type of drivetrain used in the McL 6GT?
