IWC Schaffhausen has introduced the Portofino Day and Night 34 with a silver-plated dial housed in an 18K 5N gold case. It joins this model’s lineup which includes versions in a silver-plated dial and stainless steel case, blue dial and a stainless steel case decorated with diamonds, and silver-plated dial and an 18K 5N gold case decorated with diamonds.

Dial side features a convex sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. Closed caseback is made from 18K 5N gold and screwed to the main case. Water resistant up to 5 bar or approximately 50 metres.
The watch comes with a taupe calfskin strap fitted to a butterfly folding clasp. The strap features an integrated quick-change system, allowing the owner to change straps easily.
Movement
Powered by calibre 35180, a mechanical automatic movement that powers the hours, minutes, seconds, hacking seconds, and day and night display. According to online sources, this movement is based on the Sellita SW300-1 a.

Much of our coverage on IWC Schaffhausen has centred on their Pilot’s Watches collection – watches evoking jet cockpit instruments, and appropriate for both aviators as well as motorsports. We have also covered the brand’s Ingenieur and Portugieser collections. Recently the brand has been basking in the spotlight of the newly released F1 The Movie starring Brad Pitt. (Great movie, a must watch.)

Though the brand describes the Portofino Automatic Day and Night 34 as a ladies’ watch, I believe it might appeal to men as well. Unisex watches is a trend I noticed during Watches and Wonders Geneva 2025. A. Lange & Söhne unveiled its classic 1815 in a 34 mm case size, one of the most talked about watches this year. Senior executives at Patek Philippe insisted that their new Twenty~4 Perpetual Calendar is a unisex watch. The Twenty~4 is a ladies’ collection.
The Portofino Day and Night 34 with its silver-plated dial and 18K 5N gold case highlights IWC Schaffhausen’s elegant and romantic side. It’s day and night display serves as a reminder to enjoy life’s moment and not always be in a hurry.
