Mercedes-AMG unveils new F1-inspired “Motorsport Collectors Edition” for the GT 63 PRO

It gets Petronas-coloured accents on the outside and inside

The recently concluded F1 Singapore Grand Prix saw Mercedes-Benz unveil a 200-unit-only exclusive GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ “Motorsport Collectors Edition” that borrows elements from Mercedes’ current F1 car. These elements are entirely cosmetic, comprising the base obsidian black metallic colour inspired by Mercedes-AMG’s F1 racing car along with the hand-painted star pattern with silver Mercedes stars on the rear flanks and PETRONAS-coloured decorative stripes.

The new Mercedes-Benz GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ “Motorsport Collectors Edition” also comes with the AMG Exterior Carbon Fibre package and the AMG Night Package II as standard. The former equips high-quality carbon fiber-made front splitter, side sill trims, diffuser and rear wing while the latter deploys elements such as radiator trim, typography and the rear Mercedes star in blacked-out chrome.

The “Motorsport Collectors Edition” sports car gets matte-black-finished 21‑inch AMG forged wheels with PETRONAS-coloured rim surrounds, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R Cup tyres. The same PETRONAS colour can be found on the AMG ceramic brake callipers on the front and the rear.

The PETRONAS colour extends to various bits within the cabin. The topstitching on the black Nappa leather AMG Performance seats, embossed AMG crests on the headrests, topstitching on the AMG Performance steering wheel and the stitching on the door trim panels, the instrument panel and the centre console are finished in the PETRONAS colour. The centre console gets equipped with a ‘1 out of 200’ edition badging to provide the car with its distinct identity.

Mercedes-Benz claims the new GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ “Motorsport Collectors Edition” is aimed at car enthusiasts and Formula 1 fans. It gets the same 612 hp power output from the AMG 4.0‑liter V8 bi-turbo engine as the standard car but Mercedes has given fine tweaks to the aerodynamics for enhanced cooling to acquire improved drive dynamics.
