G-Power Can Make An M440i Worry An M4
The tuner from Germany has four performance upgrade packages for the top-tier non-M 4 Series.
Usually, when G-Power takes a BMW in for some play time, it is a full-blown M model. A few examples from the recent past include spruced-up specimens of an M3 CS, an M4 CSL and even the latest-gen M2. But the latest project isn’t based on an M4. The subject here is the M440i, which can surely give an M4 a run for its money. The tricked-up specimens of the top-tier non-M 4 Series come with a simple nameplate from the German tuner: G-Power M440i.
G-Power offers multiple performance upgrade packages for the BMW M440i—four, to be precise. The M440i in stock form packs a 3.0-litre turbocharged 6-cylinder engine with 374hp/500Nm. The range-topping tuning package from G-Power ropes in the GP-520 performance software, a turbocharger upgrade, a sport downpipe, a new charge air cooler and a GP Deeptone exhaust system. As a result, the peak output increases to 520hp/700Nm, which is more than the standard M4.
If that’s a bit much, one could settle for the next level down, delivering an output of 480hp/660Nm. That comes courtesy of the GP-480 software and the same hardware enhancements mentioned above, minus the turbocharger upgrade. One could also settle with 450hp/640Nm, with the GP-450 software complemented with a sport downpipe and GP Deeptone rear muffler. Rounding off the packages is the entry-level option – the GP-420. That delivers 420hp/600Nm at peak. All performance upgrades require an ECU unlock. However, the original diagnostic and engine protection functions remain intact and unaltered.
G-Power also offers an increase in the electronically limited top speed, an overrun fuel cut-off, custom boost pressure and intake pipes, and a sports air filter. Many of these options can also be purchased separately.
Visual enhancements are essential to ensure onlookers know what they are looking at. All three M440i derivatives—Coupe, Cabriolet, and Gran Coupe—don G-Power’s Hurricane RS rims, while Hurricane RR wheels are also available. Spanning 20 inches in diameter, the rear rims are fatter to accommodate more rubber with a 275/30 profile. At the front, the tyres sport 5mm taller walls and 40mm smaller widths. The Coupe uplifts the sporty character with a GP Dynamic rear wing. Inside the cabin, the tuner from Bavaria has installed a carbon fibre steering wheel, carbon shift paddles, velour mats, and leather upholstery.
All these upgrades are also available for the BMW M340i sedan, its Touring derivative, and the M240i. Intrigued?
