Peugeot claims the new E-5008 is the only EV with seven seats and 660kms of range

The cabin gets real aluminium accents and a floating cockpit screen setup

The current EV market possesses only a handful of seven-seater vehicles. And French carmaker Peugeot’s latest unveil, the new E-5008, claims to be the only all-electric SUV that offers “exceptional living space for 7 passengers and up to 660 km electric range.”

Built on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform, the new Peugeot E-5008 EV becomes the first model to benefit from an extended configuration. With a total length of 4.79m, it boasts a generous 2.90 wheelbase which translates to heightened levels of cabin space. The fitment of Peugeot’s trademark Panoramic i-Cockpit floating setup embeds a high-tech atmosphere inside that’s further enhanced with the infotainment screen sitting flush with the dashboard. The presence of real aluminium trim and customizable ambient LED lighting extends across the dashboard and to the front and rear doors, lending a premium feel to the entire cabin.

The Peugeot E-5008’s exterior boasts a relatively high beltline, a new light signature (Pixel LED now comes as standard), and a sophisticated grille to portray a strong SUV character. Both 19 and 20-inch wheels feature a geometric technical design while carrying the new Peugeot emblem at its centre. Decorative chrome inserts on the body get reduced in favour of painted accents on the bumper, mirror housings and the lower half of the heightened beltline.

Stellantis developed its STLA Medium platform with the range being the most important criterion. Peugeot E-5008’s adoption of the same allows it to offer up to 660kms of range along with a quick charging time from 20% to 80% in 30 minutes. Additionally, the electric SUV is equipped with ACC batteries and Peugeot’s ALLURE CARE program assures a 8-year/160,000km coverage, pegging it to be the longest of any European brand.

Options galore when it comes to the Peugeot’s E-5008 trim and powertrain options. Allure and GT with three option packs are trim levels on offer. Customers can choose from three different electric powertrains – a 210hp single motor base variant with up to 500kms of range, a 230hp single motor with long range gets a bigger battery that allows range capacity of up to 660kms and an all-powerful top-spec 320hp trim with two electric motors and all-wheel-drive but a smaller range than the 230 variant. The E-5008 also serves those still sceptical about all-electric powertrains with a 136hp 48-volt mild-hybrid and a 195hp plug-in hybrid option available.
