MG One Introduced In The Middle East

The SUV is built on SAIC’s all-new modular platform.

To further cement its position in the list of top six carmakers in the Middle East, MG Motor has introduced a new model. Called MG One, it’s an SUV underpinned by an all-new, in-house developed platform – SIGMA (SAIC Intelligent Global Modular Architecture). Courtesy of its flexibility, it can accommodate various types of powertrains, including standalone internal combustion, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and all-electric.

The MG One is available in three trim levels, all powered by a combination of a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a seven-step CVT. With 181hp/285Nm on tap, the SUV can hit 100kmph from a standstill in 8.8 seconds and reach 195kmph flat out.

Features? As you’d expect, the list will vary depending on the variant chosen. The fully-loaded version will pack stuff like a panoramic sunroof, 19-inch alloy wheels, wireless mobile charger, LED headlamps, powered front seats, a 60:40 split rear seat, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The SUV also packs Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, a 360-degree monitor, adaptive cruise control, push-button start, hill descent control and an electric parking brake. Some active and passive safety features include six airbags, Blind Spot Monitoring, Automatic Emergency Braking and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.

Here’s what Tom Lee, MD of MG Motor Middle East, said in an official release:

The all-new MG One is the latest in our SUV offerings, which have propelled the MG brand into one of the most popular in the region. This tech-focused compact SUV not only complements our current product line-up but also provides customers with an exciting new option priced competitively.

Pricing? Well, that hasn’t been announced just yet. But UAE residents can check out the vehicle at your nearest Inter Emirates Motors showroom. MG Motor Middle East has also confirmed that their newest offering will come with a standard 6-year/200,000 km warranty.
