Toyota FJ Cruiser bows out with a ‘Final Edition’

It gets an all-beige makeover and aluminium wheels

Yesterday, Lamborghini rolled out the final Aventador ever, marking the end of naturally aspirated V12 engines for the brand. And now, the Toyota FJ Cruiser will have its plug pulled after more than 15 years as the Middle East’s most popular SUV. Toyota will commemorate the same with a 1000-unit-only ‘Final Edition’ to mark the off-roader’s final year of production.

The FJ Cruiser Final Edition will come with a single-tone beige colour for the exterior, upholstery, and centre cluster trim. Certain exterior elements such as the grille, bumpers, exterior mirrors, door handles, and spare tire cover receive the blacked-out treatment to aid the SUV’s rugged appeal. This limited edition will also benefit from 17-inch aluminium wheels and side steps. Special Final Edition badging also gets deployed on the car.

Vincent Wijnen, Senior Managing Director, Al-Futtaim Automotive, said: “After 15 years as one of the region’s best-loved SUVs, the time has come to bid a fond farewell to the Toyota FJ Cruiser, a model that has now become as iconic as its predecessors. Tough, rugged and capable, the FJ Cruiser is a firm favorite amongst the UAE’s off-road enthusiasts. Although these will be the last FJ Cruisers produced, we will continue to see them on the roads, deserts and mountains of the Emirates for many years to come, thanks to Toyota’s legendary reliability. We are excited to pay tribute to this legendary SUV with the Toyota FJ Cruiser Final Edition.”

The Final Edition will continue to get powered by the 4.0-litre V6 engine that produces 270hp and 380Nm torques. A host of driver assistance systems comprising electronically controlled locking rear differential, Crawl Control and Vehicle Stability Control with an off switch can be found on the car.

Toyota will roll out the ‘Final Edition’ FJ Cruiser in Q4 of 2022. The last batch of Toyota FJ Cruisers will roll out in December 2022. While the production of the off-roader will cease, FJ Cruiser customers can continue to avail services from their local Toyota Service Centers.
