Max Verstappen has certainly cemented his legacy in the world of motorsports by imposingly dominating the last four seasons of the Formula One championship, racking up 4 world titles, 67 victories, and 120 podiums along the way- with these numbers on his resume, Max Verstappen has certainly etched his name on the roster of Motorsports royalty.
Away from the F1 circus, Max has been constantly seen indulging his talents in other forms of racing, and his passion for racing anything with a set of four wheels is quite obvious, from spending his leisure time on a racing simulator to testing some of the best racecars in the world. Now, it’s no news to anyone who follows motorsports – Verstappen has been seen going through the hoops to acquire a permit to race in Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie, which roughly translates as Nürburgring Endurance Series, a series that fields some of the finest GT cars on earth.
Speaking of GT cars and Max Verstappen, A 2019 Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport owned by Max Verstappen is set to head into auction. The car is being auctioned through a renowned auction house, RM Sotheby’s, USA. The car in question is chassis 065 out of 200, sold brand new to Vertsappen through official Porsche channels, back in 2019. Since then, the car has only done 1,361 miles on the odometer.
The car made its public debut when Max and his father Jos Verstappen took it out for a spin at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in January 2020 while filming for a Dutch mini docuseries- Max Verstappen: Whatever It Takes. The car has Max Verstappen’s signature in three different locations of the vehicle -on the passenger side dashboard, in the engine bay, and on the front hood.
Additionally, Max Verstappen’s name appears on the digital dashboard alongside his manager Raymond Vermulean’s name. A photograph of Verstappen signing the car shall be presented to the eventual buyer alongside the bill of sale. The car was later exported to the United States in 2022, where it remained dormant for most of its time there.
The Porsche GT2 Clubsport, when unveiled, was touted as the most powerful non-street legal customer racing Porsche GT2 RS ever; not my words but Porsche’s. The car is powered by a twin-turbo inline-six engine producing 700hp, which is delivered to the wheels via Porsche’s infamous PDK transmission. It’s a track-only Porsche 911 GT2 RS, which, when new, was sold at $500,000. Years later, typically these non-street legal cars don’t usually bring a lot of premium over their initial sticker, but the unique novelty of being a 4x World Champion’s ex-car will definitely demand a premium and will boost the price up in the auction.
