You’ll Now See The New Range Rover On Indian Roads

Deliveries of the SUV have just begun.

It was in October last year when Land Rover took the wraps off the all-new Range Rover. Then, in January 2022, the British brand launched it in India. And now, customers who had booked the new Range Rover have started taking deliveries. Hence, regular folks will now get a chance to see the SUV in the flesh. However, the price list that Land Rover India has released today doesn’t have the SV and PHEV variants listed. That means deliveries for those will start at a later stage. The least expensive iteration of the new Range Rover costs INR 2.39 crore, whereas the costliest, non-SV and non-PHEV one carries a price tag of INR 3.52 crore.

There are three engine options available – 3.0-litre diesel, 3.0-litre petrol and 4.4-litre petrol V8. In the same order, the power/torque figures are 346bhp/700Nm, 394bhp/550Nm and 523bhp/700Nm. Both 3.0-litre mills come with a mild-hybrid system, whereas the BMW-sourced twin-turbo V8 doesn’t. All variants come with rear-wheel steering, all-wheel-drive and 8-speed automatic transmission by default.

For the new Range Rover, Land Rover has devised three basic iterations – standard, long-wheelbase and long-wheelbase with seven seats. All three are on offer in India, with the trim levels SE, HSE, Autobiography and First Edition. Unfortunately, that last one isn’t available with the seven-seat variants and will only be up for grabs during the SUV’s first year of production.

As you’d expect, the list of features is long. It includes two 11.4-inch touchscreen displays for the rear passengers, digital LED headlamps, a 13.7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Stuff like a Meridian sound system with active noise cancellation tech, cabin air purification system with a PM2.5 filter, a 3D surround camera, electronic air suspension, and heated, powered and massaging seats, is also available.

Rivals? Well, with its long list of variants, the new Range Rover competes with everything from Mercedes-Benz GLS and BMW X7 to the Lexus LX570, Bentley Bentayga, Aston Martin DBX and the Lamborghini Urus.
