Vacheron Constantin (VC) celebrates its 270th anniversary this year. As part of its celebrations and for Watches and Wonders 2025, VC has unveiled the Traditionnelle Manual-Winding, Traditionnelle Moon Phase and Manual-Winding (latter two ladies watches), and Traditionnelle Complete Calendar Openface, all with a with a new 270th anniversary dial pattern inspired by the brand’s Maltese Cross emblem.
Traditionnelle Manual-Winding

Functions: Hours and minutes. Small seconds on subdial at 6 o’clock. Both the 950 platinum and 18K 5N pink gold version feature a silver-toned dial with the 270th anniversary dial pattern inspired by the brand’s Maltese Cross. The Dauphine-shaped hour and minute hands and the small seconds hand are made from 18K gold. The applied hour-markers are made from 18K gold.
Powered by calibre 4400 AS / 270, a manufacture manual-winding movement that drives the hours, minutes, and small seconds. Diameter: 28.60 mm or 12 ½ lignes. Thickness: 2.80 mm. Parts: 127. “We wanted the limited editions to illustrate the 270th anniversary on the movements as well as the dial. The ‘côte unique’ is quite symbolic, since it is created by an ancestral craft that had been lost over time and that we had to relearn. The finish is both technical and decorative, with the supports for the gear train appearing to form a continuous and harmonious line. It was rediscovered in 2021, when our Restoration Workshop undertook to recreate the original Historiques American 1921 model and its movement with this ‘côte unique’ finish. Our artisans had to remaster the craft to decorate the five movements in these anniversary editions, a process that required hundreds of hours. Both versions come with a grey alligator leather strap, which features tone-on-tone stitching, square scales, and calf inner shell. The 950 platinum version comes with a pin buckle made from polished 950 platinum, and the 18K 5N pink gold version comes with a pin buckle made from 18K 5N polished pink gold. The pin buckle is half Maltese cross shaped.

Mother-of-pearl dial with the 270th anniversary dedicated and transversal pattern inspired by the brand’s Maltese Cross. The Dauphine-shaped hour and minute hands are made from 18K gold. The hour-markers are made from 18K gold.

The hand-guilloché open-face dial features the 270th anniversary pattern inspired by the brand’s Maltese Cross. The calibre module plate features vertical straightening. Dial is silver-toned. The Dauphine-shaped hour and minute hands and the blued date hand are made from 18K gold. The applied hour-markers are made from 18K gold. 
Powered by Calibre 2460 QCL / 270, a manufacture automatic movement that drives the hours, minutes, and complete calendar functions of day of the week, date, months, and precision moon phase display. Our Thoughts
The Traditionnelle is a gorgeous interpretation of classical Genevan watchmaking. Its design codes allow VC to include more complications and aesthetics experimentation (such as open face dials). These models will surely be future collectibles. My personal favourite is the Traditionnelle Manual-Winding 38 mm in 18K 5N pink gold.
