Gulf Historic Dubai GP Revival announces initial entries for the 2023 season

Renowned for gathering some of the most iconic racing cars from the yesteryears of motorsport, the 2023 season of Gulf Historic Dubai GP Revival will witness more glorious machines being added to its highly illustrious list. The first of the lot comprises the return of the Williams FW07C from last season and a new entrant in Tyrrell 011 for the upcoming season’s Formula One 70s category. The Le Mans 00s category will witness demonstration runs from GT and Sports Prototype cars from 1994 to 2010 and already boasts two confirmed entrants, namely an Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT2 and a Porsche 996 RS. Pierre-Brice Mena, Managing Director of GP Extreme, said: “We are delighted to announce some of the competitors for this year’s Gulf Historic Dubai GP Revival. Williams and Tyrrell are two of the greatest names in motorsport history, and it will be amazing to see their race-winning cars do battle once again. Similarly, Aston Martin and Porsche are two manufacturers that have heads turning around the world, and their respective cars will give fans a taste of sports car majesty.” The 2023 season of Gulf Historic Dubai GP Revival will occur between 8-10 December at the Dubai Autodrome.

Kia EV6 GT Crowned ‘World Performance Car’

The Kia EV6 GT was recognised as the ‘World Performance Car’ at this year’s World Car Awards, an annual event with a jury of over 100 automotive journalists from 32 countries. The announcement came at an awards ceremony during the New York International Auto Show 2023. The Kia EV6 GT is a punchier derivative of the standard EV6, which has also bagged accolades, including the ‘2022 Car of the Year’ and ‘2023 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year’ titles.

Rolls Royce unveils the Spectre EV in Dubai 

The most awaited Rolls Royce has landed on the shores of the Middle East as Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Dubai, AGMC, unveiled the brand’s first-ever all-electric offering, the Spectre, in Dubai. Touted as the world’s first ultra-luxury electric super coupé, the Spectre will be the most powerful Rolls Royce ever while being a spiritual successor to the Phantom Coupe in design. It will sit on the brand’s new EV-dedicated all-aluminium architecture and be driven on 23-inch wheels, a first for a two-door coupé in production. Specifications are yet to be unveiled, though customer deliveries will commence in Q4 of 2023. Pricing of the Spectre will be slotted between the Cullinan and Phantom.

Burberry launches limited-edition eyewear exclusive to the Middle East

Luxury brand Burberry has unveiled a new pair of sunglasses exclusive to the UAE, KSA, Kuwait and Qatar. Limited to 400 units, this new eyewear piece boasts a cat-eye silhouette with the Burberry logo in black and gold and 'limited edition' engravings on the temple. Each of these sunglasses would be offered with an authentication card stating its serial number from 1 to 400 with these models being put up on dedicated displays at select retailers.

Maruti Suzuki Triggers Fresh Voluntary Vehicle Recall

India’s largest carmaker – Maruti Suzuki – has triggered a new vehicle recall. It is for 676 Ertiga and XL6 MPVs, manufactured between June 24, 2022, and July 7, 2022. The company says these vehicles will require inspection, for there could be a possible issue in the front driveshaft. If there is, the car may make a distinct noise while turning. However, the problem does not impact the functioning of the vehicle. Maruti Suzuki will contact the owners of these possibly affected MPVs. Any rectification (if required) will come at no cost to the customer.

Abu Dhabi Motors Bags Two Awards From BMW

At the BMW Group Sales and Marketing Conference, Abu Dhabi Motors – BMW Group’s official importer for Abu Dhabi and Al Air – bagged two awards. The dealer was recognised as the “Top Performing BMW M Importer” and “Top Performing Mini John Cooper Works Importer” in the region. The awards go beyond the sales figures, incorporating customer experience and service as scoring parameters.

To celebrate 93 years of the unification and patriotism of Saudi Arabia, Audi has devised a range of 93 exclusive models. Dubbed Kingdom Edition, they comprise the S6, S7, A8 and Q8. And how do they stand out? Each has its own unique specification. The highlights include the ‘Goodwood Green’ paint, inspired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s (KSA) flag, leather upholstery as standard, Kingdom Edition scuff plates, KSA map stitching on the headrests, green rhombus pattern on floor mats and rear window matting, and Saudi-inspired digitized motifs in the door entry lights. Polestar 4 Debuts On April 18

Polestar will unveil its next offering at this year’s Shanghai Auto Show, the Polestar 4. Date? That’s April 18, 2023. Not much, apart from the image above, has been revealed yet. But we do know that the EV will boast an SUV coupe silhouette. Another claim that the brand is making – “Design cues and sustainability enhancements initially showcased in Polestar’s concept cars will make their production debut in Polestar 4.” The Swedes also mention that their new vehicle will be the fastest Polestar production car.

Audi India Announces Price Hike

If you’re planning to buy a Q3 or a Q3 Sportback, get your booking in place before the calendar reads May 2023. That way, you’ll save yourself from paying a hiked price. From May 1, both the Q3 derivatives mentioned above will cost up to 1.6 per cent more. Also, Audi India recently increased prices, by up to 2.4 per cent, of three models – RS 5, S5 and Q8 Celebration. The price adjustments come into the equation to offset the increase in import duty and input costs.

Citroen C3 Crowned “2023 World Urban Car”

At the 19th World Car Awards, the Citroen C3 bagged the “2023 World Urban Car” award. Following a volt by over 100 international journalists across 32 countries, the hatchback won in the Urban Car category. That is open to all cars under 4.25m in length and on sale in at least two major markets (China, Europe, India, Japan, Korea, Latin America, USA) on at least two separate continents. The announcement came during this year’s New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) opening. For Citroen, the C3 is the first model in a family of three global vehicles. They will help Citroen’s growth in India while consolidating its presence in South America. The “2023 World Urban Car” was launched in India last summer. Since then, Citroen has sold nearly 7,000 units. In South America, where the C3 was launched in October 2022, over 14,000 units have been sold already.
