airBaltic Welcomes Its 47th Airbus A220

Latvia’s national airline, airBaltic, has taken delivery of its 47th Airbus A220. More specifically, it’s an A220-300 registered as YL-ABU in the carrier’s hub, Riga. What became the first aircraft delivery for 2024 is part of the 50 A220-300s on order with the European aircraft manufacturer.

In November last year, airBaltic extended its order for the said aircraft. That bumped the backlog to 80 jets of the same type. Back then, the carrier had forty-four Airbus A220-300s in operation. In fact, airBaltic is the largest operator of this single-aisle aeroplane type worldwide.

Since May 2020, airBaltic operates all its flights using the above-mentioned aircraft. To date, the airline has carried nearly 14.48 million passengers using Airbus A220-300 jets. The fleet has jointly completed over 160,000 flights and flown 352,000 block hours.

Etihad Is The New Official Sponsor For Chennai Super Kings

One of the most celebrated teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), has joined the wide bandwagon of sporting teams worldwide that Etihad sponsors. In other words, Etihad is the new official sponsor for CSK. The partnership was unveiled at an event held at Kalaivanar Arangam in Chennai.

Etihad’s branding will appear on the back of the CSK jersey. And the sponsorship deal goes beyond inking the name on the team’s outfit. For starters, CSK fans will benefit from exclusive Etihad deals. What those might be will surface, we assume, during an active IPL season.

Etihad Airways, the official carrier of the UAE, operates 165 weekly flights to 10 Indian cities. New flights to Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram were added to the schedule at the beginning of 2024. Later in the year, Etihad will increase the weekly flights to Bengaluru and Kolkata. The carrier also recently onboarded Bollywood star Katrina Kaif as its brand ambassador.

Puma Suede Series Gets An XL Derivative

Among the most iconic sneaker styles introduced by Puma is Suede. The simple silhouette has garnered customers from graffiti writers to B-boy crews for years. Now, a new chapter unfolds for the series. Enter the Puma Suede XL. As the name suggests, aspects have been enlarged for those who like to make an XL-sized statement with their footwear. The highlights of the heavily cushioned shoe include a padded tongue and Formstrip, along with “ultra-wide” laces.

Puma says Suede XL “is inspired by the nostalgia of ‘90s and early 2000s skating footwear”. The derivative is available in an ‘Electric Blue’ shade, with more to be added later this year. Those interested can head to the brand’s official website. Alternatively, select stores and Puma flagship outlets have those on sale.

Lotus Hosts Emira Founders Appreciation Event In Dubai

Lotus Cars’ official retail partner in the UAE, Adamas Motor Group, recently hosted an event celebrating a successful year for the Emira sports car. Dubbed, rather unimaginatively, as Lotus Emira Founders Appreciation, the event was attended by over 50 first owners of the vehicle in question. That made the gathering the largest in the Middle East.

Lotus says the Emira sold well in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in 2023. In fact, both cities were among the top markets for the model. It has engine options – a 2.0-litre four-cylinder affair and a 3.5-litre V6. Weighing just over 1.4 tonnes, the Emira can hit 100kmph from a standstill in 4.5 seconds. Prices for the Lotus Emira start at AED 415,000.
