This Maybach S-Class Is The Brabus 600

Carbon fibre elements and a Turquoise Blue interior aside, the uber luxury limousine also packs a mightier punch.

Let’s face it; if a car has ‘Maybach’ in its name, it will probably be well-catered for those who put opulence and smugness above everything else. But clearly, that’s something Brabus feels isn’t accurate. That’s why it took the latest version of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the 580 4Matic to be precise, and went to town with it. And the end result is called the Brabus 600.

Of course, we’ll start with the powertrain. In standard form, the S 580 4Matic has 503hp/700Nm from its 4.0-litre V8. Brabus has upped the output to 600hp/800Nm, while the 9-speed automatic transmission keeps its job. The top speed is still electronically-limited to 250kmph, but the Brabus 600 is quicker getting there. From nothing to 100kmph takes just 4.5 seconds which, for a uber luxury saloon like this, is super impressive. And for that extra drama, there’s a Brabus sports exhaust system with black ceramic-coated tailpipes.

As you’d expect, theatrics aren’t limited to the mightier powerplant. The Brabus 600 is visually just as intimidating. Outside, it boasts carbon fibre bits, including the front spoiler, rear diffuser and add-ons on the front skirt. Then, all chrome trims have been repainted in a shade Brabus calls “shadow grey”, while the lettering for the front grille is in “shadow chrome”. The wheels? Those are Brabus Monoblock M “Platinum Edition” in “shadow grey”, spanning 22 inches in diameter. Accompanying them brakes in Turquoise Blue and a Brabus SportXtra suspension setup. Rounding off the exterior are Brabus Masterpiece logos on the fenders, c-pillars and rear lid, along with a couple of Brabus logos.

Yes, the interiors haven’t been ignored! What Brabus has done is bathe the cabin in Turquoise Blue. So, everything from the dashboard, the door trim to the rear armrest and the seats are in that bespoke shade. Adding the contrast are glossy black carbon bits on the centre console and the doors. And Brabus hasn’t stuck to only leather, as the A-, B- and C-pillars are in Alcantara, and so are the sun visors and the roof liner. Topping the lunacy is the Brabus branding on multiple locations, including the mats, door sills and seats.

Getting the Brabus 600 treatment for the Mercedes-Maybach S 580 will make a statement everywhere the owner goes. How do you like it?
