The quickest Cadillac ever is an EV SUV called the LYRIQ-V

You heard me right. The quickest Caddy ever is tall, chunky, and electric.

So much for the CTS-V and Blackwing Cadillac owners being able to brag about their being the quickest of the bunch. They’ve all been upstaged by a platform-shared Blazer with some leather. I’m not upset, but then again, I don’t own a fast Caddy. But if I did, I’d be pouring one out for the days when good old gasoline produced the quickest Cadillacs.

Is this the nail in the coffin for quick gasoline Cadillacs? I doubt it. Especially since I’m hopeful we will see some of the hybrid racing technology from their V-Series.R trickle down into a road car. If you haven’t seen that absolutely bananas wild thing lapping world-famous circuits, you should go check out the pit lane exits it makes. It leaves under electric power and fires up its 5.5L V8 as it heads to the pit exit with a big roar. Hearing and seeing it, you too will be hopeful for some gasoline-powered future sports car.

I digress; let’s talk about the Cadillac LYRIQ-V a bit more. Introduced for the 2023 model year, the LYRIQ is built on a shared platform with the Blazer EV, Acura ZDX, and Honda Prologue. The standard LYRIQ makes a maximum of 500 horsepower, but with the V being added at the end, the taps are turned up to 615 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft of torque. This produces 3.3 seconds from naught to sixty miles per hour with Velocity Max (driver-selectable feature to enable full power). It comes with a ‘Competitive Mode’ which enables additional traction management features, they say, to help increase vehicle agility—not sure how necessary a high-riding SUV isn’t the most confident thing to be in around corners, but it probably helps.

Tweaking the standard LYRIQ, the V model has a “multi-layered, unique exterior and interior signature sound” as we all want our EVs to make some sort of ear-pleasing noise. It has specially calibrated Continuous Damping Control, lowered suspension, quicker steering, and standard dual motor all-wheel drive. The range is estimated at 285 miles with the 102kW battery pack.

Rounding out the special features are Brembo front brakes with an available red caliper with the V-Series logo and several special modes. V-Mode allows you to save performance-focused settings and has unique sound experiences. Launch control is unlocked in V-Mode or Velocity Max to achieve 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds. Competitive mode enables traction control management for ‘increased agility’. And if you’re having none of it, active standard Super Cruise and let the car drive so you can take your hands off the wheel.

On the outside, your LYRIQ-V has a unique lower front fascia, side rockers, and body-colored trim with carbon fiber accents available. The Black Crystal Shield even does a choreographed lighting routine. V-Series logos are on the rear doors and tailgate along with getting unique 22-inch wheels with a dark sport finish. Furthering your unique LYRIQ-V, you can have it in a limited exterior color of Magnus Metal Frost.

Cheers!
