Sustainability and electrification may drive the mass-market mobility sector in the future, but customisation is gradually becoming a key aspect in the future of luxury cars. Bigger players like Bentley and Rolls Royce have already got the ball rolling with the launch of dedicated customisation divisions called Mulliner and Bespoke, respectively. And now, Land Rover wants a piece of this custom pie as it launches the all-new Range Rover SV Lansdowne Edition.
Limited to 16 units, the Range Rover SV Lansdowne Edition is a UK-only limited edition bespoke SUV developed by Land Rover’s bespoke Special Vehicles Operation (SVO) division. Priced at £250,000 a piece, all 16 units of the Lansdowne Edition, a special commission to commemorate the opening of a newly refurbished showroom in Mayfair, London, are reportedly sold out.
Each of the 16 builds features a unique specification. All cars benefit from the Lansdowne Grey Gloss exterior paint, a shade exclusive to this edition, with a contrasting Corris Grey Gloss roof and 23-inch alloy wheels. The interior gets complimented by ‘Rosewood’ and ‘Ebony’ interior with ceramic finish on the buttons. Fattorini, Britain’s oldest family-owned jeweller, would supply all 16 Lansdowne Editions with black chrome badging.
However, the Range Rover’s signature offering is the split-open tailgate which in the Lansdowne Edition gets infused with more luxury than ever. It boasts a Tailgate Event Suite that incorporates folding chairs with Aniline leather cushioning on the tailgate. Special illuminated tread plates with “SV Bespoke – Lansdowne Edition 1 of 1” lettering offer additional exclusivity.
The mechanicals remain identical to the regular Range Rover. The Range Rover SV Lansdowne Edition gets powered by a 4.4-litre mild hybrid twin-turbocharged V8 putting out 523bhp.
Patrick McGillycuddy, JLR’s UK sales director, said: “The profound desirability of our products has never been so apparent. All 16 of the exquisite Range Rover SV Lansdowne Editions have been sold ahead of reveal, truly demonstrating the appeal of our luxury brands.”
