The dAHLer-Tuned M3 Touring Looks So Good!

The Swiss tuner describes the job as ‘Competition Line’.

Most enthusiasts would agree with the following statement – there’s not much better in life than a tastefully-tuned BMW M3. And when it’s about sprucing up the first-ever M3 Touring, which broke cover last year in the G81 generation, the pull for owning such an example becomes even stronger. Proof? Swiss tuner dAHLer has given the station wagon its ‘Competition Line’ treatment.

The standard M3 Touring has a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre, six-cylinder petrol engine that offers 510hp/650Nm. All that oomph is routed to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. The buffs from Belp, a town near Bern, have developed a couple of tune packages to lift the numbers a bit. Go for the Stage 1 performance boost, and the output goes up to 610hp/720Nm. Otherwise, those seeking a bit more can opt for Stage 2, which adds another 20hp/20Nm, taking the total up to 630hp/740Nm.

In the mix are sports air filters along with a carbon air intake. dAHLer also replaces the standard exhaust system with a high-performance one made of high-grade stainless steel with a bi-flap control. It is rounded off with ceramic-coated tailpipes measuring 100mm or 114mm in diameter. The tuner confirms that the resulting product complies with Euro 6d WLTP standards and will come with an EU/CH homologation certificate.

Besides tweaking the powertrain, dAHLer also optimises the chassis. For instance, the front and rear axles are lowered by 28mm and 15mm in the entry-level version. Moreover, for extra adjustment options, such as compression stage and rebound for low- and high-speed runs, the tuner will fit its own coilover suspension. Accompanying are sport brake linings and steel flex lines, which help tame the tuned car.

In terms of design, the dAHLer-tuned M3 Touring comes with a unique carbon fibre front spoiler lip. It, along with the ORVM caps and the rear diffuser, is available in dual-tone or clear-coloured carbon fibre finishes. Rounding off the exterior revamping process are the 21-inch forged wheels, paired with 275/25s at the front and 295/25s at the rear. The partially-polished finish is a unique touch. Inside the cabin is the tuner’s logo on the centre console and floor mats.

The dAHLer M3 Touring looks good and, based on the numbers above, should have just enough kick to worry most on the open roads. What’s your take?
