Skoda Introduces Slavia Facelift in India at Rs 9.99 Lakh

Skoda has introduced the new Slavia facelift in India at ₹9.99 lakh. Explore its updated design, new features, engine options and 8-speed automatic gearbox.

What is the News?

Skoda Auto India has introduced the new facelifted version of the Slavia in India. It is Skoda’s premium midsize sedan developed for the Indian market, based on the locally adapted MQB-A0-IN platform.

The updated sedan receives revised exterior styling, additional cabin features and a new eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. The facelift aims to strengthen its position in the mid-size sedan segment by adding more technology and comfort features.

What engine options are available?

The new Skoda Slavia facelift comes in two engine options: a 1.0-litre TSI and a 1.5-litre TSI. The 1.0-litre TSI is a three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 115 PS and 178 Nm of torque. It is available with two types of transmissions: a six-speed manual gearbox or the new eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission.

The 1.5-litre TSI is a four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine. The engine produces 150 PS and 250Nm of torque. It is available with only one transmission option: a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox, and the powertrain is only available on the higher Prestige and Monte Carlo variants.

What is new about the eight-speed automatic gearbox?

The new eight-speed torque-converter automatic available on the 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine is the biggest mechanical update introduced with the new Skoda Slavia facelift. Earlier, the engine used a six-speed automatic transmission. The addition of two extra ratios is aimed at improving response in stop-and-go traffic and more relaxed engine speeds on highways.

What exterior changes does the Slavia facelift get?

The facelifted Skoda Slavia features very subtle exterior changes rather than a complete design refresh. The overall sedan silhouette, proportions and character lines remain the same, with changes seen on the front and at the rear.

At the front, the updated sedan gets new LED headlamps and LED fog lamps. The grille also features a chrome highlight, adding more visual width to the front-end design. At the rear, the Slavia facelift features new LED tail lamps with sequential turn indicators.

The facelift also features new alloy-wheel designs and additional colour options. The new colour options offered on the new Slavia are Arctic Silver and Cappuccino Beige.
