The RIMOWA Original suitcase has travelled with people for decades, and it now wears a new permanent tone. From 9 July 2026, RIMOWA Original Ink Blue brings a deep midnight blue to the brand’s most recognisable aluminium range. The shade takes its cue from the lasting language of ink, a material used for centuries in writing, drawing and dyeing. That idea suits luggage well, because good luggage should last a lifetime too.
What is the RIMOWA Original Ink Blue colourway?
RIMOWA Original Ink Blue is a deep, luminous midnight hue that blends the contemporary with the classic. Rather than sit flat, the colour carries a rich metallic sheen that shifts gently as the light moves across the case. As a result, the finish never hides the aluminium beneath it. Instead, it celebrates the material and the collection’s famous grooves. The tone joins the Original line as a permanent option, so it is not a fleeting seasonal drop but a shade you can return to for years.

How does RIMOWA create the Ink Blue finish?
The colour comes from anodisation, a technique RIMOWA has long used to dye a metal that is famously hard to colour. In simple terms, the process works by applying vibrant pigment directly into the surface of the aluminium rather than laying paint on top. As a result, the look is rich and uniform, with real depth. The finish, therefore, becomes part of the case itself. It keeps the aluminium’s metallic character visible while giving RIMOWA Original Ink Blue its distinctive glow.

What is new inside the Ink Blue suitcases?
This launch is not only about colour. Alongside the new shade, RIMOWA has refined the details that owners actually use. A newly engineered ergonomic handle now includes a damper mechanism, so the case closes slowly and quietly instead of snapping shut. Inside, an updated Flex Divider adopts a squared design and adds a zippered storage pocket, making packing a little tidier.
The core engineering carries over, and RIMOWA colour-matches all of it to the Ink Blue finish. That includes the stage-free telescopic handle, the RIMOWA-pioneered Multiwheel system and the TSA-approved locks that keep belongings secure in transit. The German Maison also backs every suitcase with its lifetime guarantee, so each one stays a reliable companion for the journeys ahead.
What sizes and prices does the RIMOWA Original Ink Blue offer?
The RIMOWA Original Ink Blue collection comes in three suitcase sizes, each built for a different kind of trip. The Cabin suits short breaks of three to four days and measures 55 x 40 x 23 cm (H x W x D). The roomier Check-In L handles longer stays at 79 x 51 x 27.5 cm, while the largest Trunk Plus measures 80 x 44 x 37 cm for extended travel. In the UAE, pricing starts at AED 5,500 for the Original Cabin, then AED 6,900 for the Check-In L, and AED 9,000 for the Trunk Plus.

What else comes in Ink Blue and denim?
The colourway reaches well beyond the suitcases. To begin with, Ink Blue extends into the Groove collection, made in Italy from soft calf leather. It adds a Cross-Body Bag in Small and Large sizes, plus a Zipped Pouch in the same shade. These leather pieces complement the aluminium cases with an easy elegance.
RIMOWA has also imagined a full suite of seasonal travel accessories, this time drawing on denim’s appeal. The line includes a reversible bucket hat with a matching travel pouch, which is a first for RIMOWA, along with Packing Cubes and a Toiletry Pouch Trifold. Finally, an anodised aluminium Card Holder in Ink Blue rounds things off, finished with the grooves that define the German Maison.
Prices for the wider collection sit as follows: the Groove Cross-Body Bag costs AED 4,300 in Small and AED 6,300 in Large, while the Groove Zipped Pouch is AED 1,900. In denim, the Toiletry Pouch Trifold is AED 1,200; the Packing Cubes are AED 600, AED 650, and AED 690 in Small, Medium, and Large; and the Reversible Bucket Hat with Pouch is AED 860. The anodised aluminium Card Holder in Ink Blue rounds off the line. Like the suitcases, the entire RIMOWA Original Ink Blue collection will be available from 9 July 2026 in stores and on RIMOWA’s official website.
