Oris, the Hölstein, Switzerland, based watchmaker has just introduced the Divers Sixty-Five 60th Anniversary Edition. It celebrates the brand’s first dive watch from 1965.
Evolution of the Divers Sixty-Five
“1965: Oris introduces its first dive watch, featuring a 36mm stainless steel case, bi-directional rotating bezel, and luminescent hour marker.
2015: Oris launches the Divers Sixty-Five to mark the 50th anniversary, reinterpreting the original design with modern materials, including a 40mm stainless steel case, sapphire crystal, and Swiss-made automatic movement.

2016: The ‘no numerals’ version of the Divers Sixty-Five is introduced, updating the design with a cleaner, more contemporary look while retaining its retro-inspired appeal.
2024: Oris announces the Divers Date, a versatile everyday sports watch with enhanced performance, including a 39mm stainless steel case, a ceramic bezel insert, and 200 meters of water resistance, maintaining the spirit of the original design.”

Black dial with vintage details. The dial “preserves key design elements from the original, including large luminescent numerals at 3, 6, 9, and 12, the anti-shock label at 6 o’clock, and the nostalgic retro Oris logo with the word “waterproof” beneath it.”
Hour and minute hands, and the “lollipop” bit on the seconds hand are coated with Super-LumiNova.
12 hour-markers, including the 3, 6, 9, and 12, are printed with Super-LumiNova.

Hour and minute scale encircles the inner dial, graduated in increments of 5 minutes each.
Movement
Powered by Oris 733, an automatic movement. It drives the hours, minutes, seconds and stop-seconds function. According to online sources, it is based on the Sellita SW200-1.
Diameter: 25.60 mm or 11 ½ lignes. Thickness: 4.60 mm (according to online sources.)
Jewels: 26. Frequency: 28,800 or 4 Hz.
Power reserve: 38 hours.
Case, Bracelet, and Strap

Multi-piece case is made from stainless steel. Case features a bi-directional rotating bezel with a 60-minutes scale.
Diameter: 40 mm. Thickness: 12.80 mm.
Lug to lug distance: 46 mm. Lug width: 20 mm.
Dial side features a sapphire crystal, domed on both sides, with double-sided anti-reflective coating.
Caseback, made from stainless steel, is screwed to the main case. It is “engraved with special anniversary markings.”
Screw-in crown at 3 o’clock is made from stainless steel.
Water resistant up to 10 bar / 100 metres.
Multi-piece bracelet is made from stainless steel and features a folding clasp.
A black rubber strap with a stainless steel buckle is also provided.

The Divers Sixty-Five 60th Anniversary Edition follows the brand’s recent launch of the impressive Divers Date, a watch we covered recently. While the Divers Date is a modern evolution of the original dive watch from 1965, the 60th Anniversary Edition is a vintage remake, while remaining a modern watch throughout.
