Oris, the Hölstein, Switzerland, based watchmaker, has collaborated with Miss Piggy of The Muppets to unveil the ProPilot X Miss Piggy Edition. It is Oris’s second collaboration with The Muppets, the first being the fabulous ProPilot X Kermit Edition, “which introduced the concept of Kermit Day on the first of every month and making a little time for ourselves.”

Dial
“Hot pink” dial.
Rhodium and white colour of the hour, minute, and seconds hand contrast well with the dial.
A lab-grown baguette diamond, applied on the dial, represents 12 o’clock.
11 hour-markers, applied on the dial, are a different shade of pink from the dial.
12 hour-markers (2 for 12 o’clock), discreetly printed on the dial, extend beyond the applied hour-markers.
“ORIS” at 12 o’clock, and “PROPILOT X” and “Swiss Made” at 6 o’clock printed discreetly on the dial.
A “hot pink” flange divides the outer dial with the case.

Case and Bracelet
Multi-piece case is made from stainless steel.
Diameter: 34 mm.
Dial side features a sapphire crystal, domed on both sides, with double-sided anti-reflective coating.
Caseback, made from stainless steel, is screwed to the main case.
It features a see-through mineral glass aperture revealing Miss Piggy’s portrait.
“On the mirror-polished case back, there’s a small opening, a spyhole that reveals a picture of a coy, demure Miss Piggy on the lilac rotor, which appears and disappears as the rotor rotates.”
Screw-in crown at 3 o’clock is made from stainless steel.
Water resistant up to 10 bar or 100 metres.
Multi-piece bracelet is made from brushed and polished stainless steel and features a folding “LIFT” clasp.
Movement
Powered by Oris 531, a mechanical automatic movement that drives the hours, minutes, seconds, and stop-seconds function.
Diameter: 17.20 mm or 7 ¾ lignes.
Frequency: 28,800 vph or 4 Hz. Power reserve: 42 hours.
Movement features a lilac Miss Piggy rotor.
Our Thoughts
I was first exposed to The Muppets as a child during the mid-1980’s. Growing up in India, my family owned a large TV (I think from a Japanese brand called “National”), connected to a VCR (video cassette recorder). My grandmother had bought me “The Muppets Show” video tape. Every few months, she allowed me to watch it. It was entertaining, joyful, and brought a smile to my face.
40 years on, the Oris ProPilot X Miss Piggy Edition has been created to be entertaining, joyful, and bring a smile to all those will wear it. A horological equivalent to my 7- or 8-year-old self-sitting in front of a TV watching my favourite Muppet characters.

As I wrote in my recent article on the Divers Date, Oris is an impressive watchmaker, renowned for making simple, robust, and affordable watches that address a broader segment of collectors. The ProPilot X Miss Piggy Edition takes it a step forward by making a fun watch that incorporates a glamorous character from a timeless show. For me, it brings back a happy childhood memory. Oris deserves huge credit for this watch.
