OMODA and JAECOO unveil new products for the UAE

Both innovative Chinese brands hosted an immersive test drive event for select personnel

June 5th and 6th saw innovative Chinese auto brands OMODA and JAECOO unveil their new vehicles – OMODA C5 and JAECOO J7 in the UAE. The automakers hosted an immersive experience held at Meliá Desert Palm in Dubai to showcase the vehicles. Select media personnel including The Cornea Impression were invited to get a brief first-hand drive experience of both cars.

The two-day event had product experts from the brand share insights about the brand and the vehicles and accompanied media guests during the test drives. Participants first enjoyed the OMODA C5 with a highway drive in an urban setup followed by a transition to an entirely off-road experience in the JAECOO J7 off-road-centric lifestyle vehicle.

Shawn Xu, CEO of OMODA & JAECOO Automobile International, said: “We’re thrilled with the positive feedback received from the media and eagerly anticipate welcoming consumers in Q3. Our confidence in the appeal of our vehicles stems from extensive market studies and surveys, ensuring that they resonate with UAE consumers. This event marks just the beginning of an exciting journey, as we continue to prioritize excellence and innovation. We’re committed to building strong relationships and showcasing our vision of new energy mobility, aligning with the sustainability goals of the nation and its leadership.”

Both models, the OMODA C5 and JAECOO J7 are set to have their official launch in the Middle East region in Q3 of 2024. While the C5 is aimed at the urban buyer with a futuristic exterior design and a plush cabin featuring a host of driver-assistance, connected and safety technologies, the J7 is positioned to offer urban off-road adventures with its elegant looks and capable four-wheel driving performance.

Both cars during the test drive experience were equipped with turbocharged engines producing up to 200hp coupled with an automatic gearbox. However, May 2024 witnessed both brands create history with the global debut of its pure electric OMODA E5 and new energy hybrid SUVs JAECOO J7 PHEV and J8 PHEV at its Ecological Conference, in Wuhu, China. Keeping that in mind, OMODA and JAECOO may have arrived on Middle Eastern shores with internal combustion engines, but their recent global unveils indicate the launch of new energy vehicles in the UAE market isn’t far from the horizon.
