INDIA’S TATA MOTORS OWNED RANGE ROVER BECOMES OFFICIAL VEHICLE PARTNER OF WIMBLEDON 2024

The fleet’s plug-in electric hybrid models will use the on-site charging infrastructure which is powered by 100% renewable electricity

For the first time in history, Range Rover, arguably the world’s most favourite luxury SUV brand, has become the Official Vehicle Partner of Wimbledon, the world’s oldest tennis tournament, starting 2024.

Illustrious histories

Wimbledon, also known as The Championships, is one among the four tennis Grand Slams and is the only one played on grass. It has evolved from a private members’ croquet club, was established in 1868 and has grown to become one of the sporting highlights of the Summer, viewed by millions globally. While, its partner, Range Rover has an equally illustrious history. It has been the face of the luxury SUV segment for over 50 years and is sold in sold in 121 countries. It belongs to the JLR house of brands – owned by the Indian TATA Motors – and encompasses models like the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar and Range Rover Evoque models. With this announcement, we also see the transition from Jaguar to Range Rover as the official vehicle partner, continuing JLR’s support of The Championships for more than a decade.

Serviced by PHEVs powered by 100% renewable electricity

Every Range Rover is now available as a plug-in electric hybrid, with the first fully electric Range Rover due to be revealed later this year. The fleet deployed will include the latest Range Rover and Range Rover Sport plug-in electric hybrid models, and will transport players, their team members and officials to and from official venues throughout The Championships. They will use the on-site charging facilities at The Championships to maximise the use of Range Rover’s claimed, pure electric driving range of up to 75 miles. The on-site charging infrastructure at the recently completed Indoor Tennis Centre is powered by 100% renewable electricity and is capable of accommodating increasing numbers of hybrid and electric vehicles as progress continues towards the All England Club’s 2030 net zero operational emissions target.

Deborah Jevans CBE, Chair of the All England Club, which stages The Championships, said:

“We are delighted to be continuing our long-standing partnership with JLR with the announcement of Range Rover as Official Vehicle Partner. I am particularly pleased with the inclusion of a significant number of lower emission plug-in hybrid vehicles in the fleet, with a focus on as many journeys as possible being delivered in EV mode. This is another step towards our goal of achieving net zero operational emissions by 2030.”

Wimbledon is set to take place from 1 to 14 July 2024 at The All England Lawn Tennis Club.
