Nürburgring at 100: BMW Motorrad rolls out limited M 1000 RR, R and XR special editions

BMW Motorrad marks the Nürburgring’s centenary with a limited-edition "100 Jahre Edition" which includes M 1000 RR, R and XR bikes, each restricted to just 100 units worldwide and finished in exclusive Nürburgring Green with carbon wheels.

What is the “100 Jahre Edition”?

The “100 Jahre Nürburgring” edition is a joint BMW M and BMW Motorrad project marking the centenary year of the Nürburgring. “100 Jahre” is German for “100 years”, and the special edition is commissioned to highlight the circuit’s role as a development track for BMW’s high-performance models.

The “100 Jahre” edition includes nine models from across BMW M division automobiles and BMW Motorrad motorcycles.  All nine models feature an identical Nürburgring Green paint.

Which motorcycles are included?

The “100 Jahre” edition lineup consists of three models from BMW’s flagship M1000 range. The models are:

  • BMW M 1000 RR

The M 1000 RR is BMW’s flagship supersport machine derived from its World Superbike contender. The motorcycle focuses on maximum racetrack performance, with lightweight and aerodynamic bodywork.

  • BMW M 1000 R

The M 1000 R is the naked “hyper naked” variant of the M 1000 RR, using the same engine and chassis philosophy, tuned for raw, agile street performance for everyday use.

  • BMW M 1000 XR

The M 1000 XR is a high-performance crossover, blending M 1000 power with ADV ergonomics, offering a versatile stance for touring and off-road riding.

What makes these bikes visually special?

Visually, the “100 Jahre Nürburgring” exhibits a distinct Nürburgring Green paint, developed specifically for this anniversary edition. The fuel tank features a painted silhouette of the Nordschleife layout. The airbox cover features an anniversary design with an individual “one of 100” marking, o carbon wheels accented with thin Nürburgring Green stripes, an Alcantara seat with “embroidered” onto it, a black rear swingarm and a black rear frame.

What makes these bikes technically special?

Technically, the “100 Jahre” edition motorcycles are already built on the high-spec M 1000 platform. All three models retain the same engine and mechanical package as their standard counterparts.

BMW has also equipped the “100 Jahre” editions with the M Track package as standard across the three models. In addition, the M 1000 RR and M 1000 R come standard with an M Cover Kit, plus an M Motorcycle mat and a rear paddock stand.

What are the engine and performance figures for each bike?

All three use a 999cc inline-four ShiftCam engine revving to 14,500 rpm. The M 1000 RR delivers around 210 hp at 13,750 rpm, the M 1000 R produces 205 hp at 12,750 rpm, and the M 1000 XR about 190 hp at 12,750 rpm, each tuned for its role.

How rare are these motorcycles?

The “100 Jahre Nürburgring” editions are among the rarest modern BMW motorcycles. Each model – RR, R and XR are all limited to 100 units each globally, meaning 300 bikes in total will ever carry this special Nürburgring Green livery.
