New Audi A6 Range Gets Two Strong Hybrid Models

The Avant and Sedan are electric hybrid models, each available with two power outputs of 295 hp and 362 hp, with an electric range of up to 106 kilometres

Audi is expanding its A6 model range with two plug-in hybrid models that combine maximum efficiency, superior comfort, and powerful performance. The A6 Avant e-hybrid quattro and the A6 Sedan e-hybrid quattro can be ordered in two power outputs. The new generation of high-voltage batteries in the plug-in hybrids has approximately 45 percent more capacity than its predecessor, enabling a travel distance of over 100 kilometres on electric power. If the battery is empty, a full charge takes only two and a half hours.

Both models feature a long wheelbase, an elongated hood, and a wide track. The A6 Sedan e-hybrid quattro features a sweeping curve at the top of the window, while the Avant has a more sculpted rear end, an aerodynamically sculpted surround, and a roof-edge spoiler. Both models exude a powerful presence thanks to the striking taillights, wide light bar, and Audi rings mounted above.

Both cars are powered by a 2.0-litre TFSI engine producing 252 hp and an electric motor producing up to 140 hp. The 362 hp and 500 Nm Avant and Sedan models accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.3 seconds, while the 295 hp and 450 Nm models accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.0 seconds.

The system offers two operating modes: “EV” and “hybrid.” In EV mode, the plug-in hybrid models operate purely on electric power. In Hybrid mode, the hybrid drive management system maintains a specific charge level to provide sufficient electrical energy for later use. In addition to the automatic Hybrid mode, the desired charge level can be individually selected using a digital slider. The degree of thrust recuperation in electric driving mode (EV-mode) can be adjusted to three levels using the steering wheel’s paddles. The new A6 e-hybrid runs on electric power for as long as possible to fully utilise the available battery charge to reach the driver’s destination. When this function is activated, the vehicle recovers energy automatically based on route data stored in the navigation system. The new A6 e-hybrid quattro can also recover energy automatically without active route guidance. The two top models have extremely sporty standard equipment: S line interior and exterior trim, sports suspension, larger wheels, and red brake callipers.
