Mitsubishi teases the new Colt… and unveils the facelifted Renault Clio

The hatchbacks should be revealed in April

In order to strengthen its still very limited presence in Europe, Mitsubishi has joined forces with Renault to offer new models. The recently unveiled ASX is an almost perfect clone of the Captur. The same will be true for the Colt city car which will be largely based on the Clio. The Japanese brand has in fact teased the front of the Colt, unintentionally giving precious clues about the facelifted Clio that will be presented soon.

As Mitsubishi had shown in a first teaser, the diamond will be surrounded by C-shaped chrome rings on the grille. Now it’s at the ends that things get interesting. Compared to the pre-facelift Clio, the headlights have been made thinner and their signature has been changed. The characteristic C-shaped daytime running lights are now reinterpreted and split into two parts, becoming more angular.

If we are indeed looking at the Colt, it is very likely that the facelifted Clio will adopt exactly the same headlights. The latter are inspired by the Scénic Vision concept’s triangular shape. At the rear, the taillights should also be slightly more angular than on the current Clio. On board, new seat trims and new equipment will be introduced. For example, the digital instrument cluster will be standard on all versions.

It is finally under the bonnet that the French and the Japanese will differ the most. In addition to its E-Tech hybrid version, the Renault is expected to keep its combustion engines, unlike the Mitsubishi which will rely entirely on the hybrid powertrain. Finally, like the ASX, the Colt could offer a five-year warranty, whereas the Captur and Clio are limited to the legal two years.
