MG unveils the first pictures of the Mulan electric compact car

Should the VW ID.3 be worried?

The Chinese-English brand MG continues its expansion and today reveals the first images of the Mulan which will soon join the rest of the range. The manufacturer is now tackling the bulk of the European market with an electric compact car that is full of ambitions. The car relies on a pleasant style, modern technology and low prices. With a length of 4.30 m, the Mulan also has an obvious target: the Volkswagen ID.3.

Taut lines, sharp headlights, aggressive angles… The Mulan does not lack character! The rear end is just as impressive with a double spoiler and a light bar. The interior has not been revealed, but it should also be modern with a sleek dashboard with screens. Technically, the Mulan is based on the new Nebula platform reserved exclusively for electric vehicles.

Like the ZS EV SUV, it could benefit from two battery sizes: a standard pack of around 51 kWh and a larger 72 kWh accumulator for ranges of between 220 and 290 mi (350 and 460 km). The main difference with the SUV is the Nebula platform: the Mulan could have a dual motor version with all-wheel drive. 0-60 time would then be achieved in less than four seconds.

In terms of equipment, the compact car will be very generous with 5G connectivity and possibly Level 3 semi-autonomous driving. In addition to the ID.3, the car will also compete with the Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric and Nissan Leaf. It will arrive in Europe in 2023 at prices between €30,000 and €40,000. In the process, it will change its name to something more serious like MG4 or M4 CyberE.
