Maserati unveils the first images of the new GranTurismo

Fresh styling and a 1,200 PS Folgore model

After a seemingly endless wait, Maserati finally presents the first images of the new GranTurismo. The Italian coupe is getting a new look and replaces a model that came out in 2007, an antiquity on the automotive scale! The new GranTurismo retains the elements that made the first model so strong, such as a long bonnet and a roofline that ends in a relatively short boot lid.

These elements are however enhanced by more modern details such as the headlights largely inspired by the MC20 and Grecale. The oval grille and the sloping bonnet are taken from the first GranTurismo. The same applies to the three fender vents, which are characteristic of Maserati models. The stern has slightly slimmed down taillights and a more restrained bumper.

The interior has not yet been revealed, but it should be the focus of the greatest improvements, as the current model’s interior has aged very badly with its small screens and multitude of buttons. On the technical side, the new GranTurismo will be the first Maserati to offer an electric version called Folgore. With its 1,200 PS, it will be at the top of the range in terms of performance.

It will accelerate from 0 to 60 in 2.6 seconds thanks to its four-wheel drive and could reach 200 mph (320 kph). On the charging side, the car will be able to recover 100 mi (160 km) of range in 10 minutes, suggesting a comfortable charging power. Thermal powertrains will also be included. More details will be available at the car’s world premiere, scheduled for 2023.
