Lexus India Launches The New RX SUV
It’s available in two hybrid variants – 350h Luxury and 500h F-Sport Performance.
After flaunting it at this year’s Auto Expo, Lexus India has finally revealed the prices of the new RX. The SUV is available in two hybrid variants – 350h Luxury and 500h F-Sport Performance. While the former comes with a price tag of INR 95.80 lakh, the latter, at INR 1.18 crore, costs INR 22.20 lakh more.
Powering the less expensive derivative, the 350h Luxury, is the combination of a naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre petrol engine, electric motor and a CVT. All on its own, the internal combustion engine outputs 193hp/242Nm. However, the total system output is 250hp. With that powertrain, the new Lexus RX can hit 100kmph from nothing in 7.9 seconds and clock 200kmph flat out.
On the other hand, the RX 500h F-Sport Performance packs a turbocharged 2.4-litre engine coupled with a more powerful electric motor and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The petrol-fed unit generates 272hp/460Nm on its own. The total system output, however, is 371hp. As a result, this RX variant can complete the standard sprint in 6.2 seconds and register 210kmph as the top speed.
Most creature comforts and safety systems are shared between the two derivatives. The list includes auto-levelling LED headlamps, a coloured head-up display, an auto-dimming IRVM, a wireless charger, ambient lighting, three-zone automatic climate control, a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 21-speaker Mark Levinson sound system. The duo also packs connected-car technology, Lexus Navigation System, support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a panoramic view monitor and multiple driver assistance systems, including Pre Collision Warning, Lane Tracing Assist, Lane Departure Assist and adaptive cruise control.
There’s no denying that the new Lexus RX is a head-turner. In India, it is a direct rival to the Mercedes-Benz GLE, Jaguar F-Pace, Range Rover Velar, BMW X5, Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90. So the question is, would you buy the RX over its competitors?
