Lamborghini unveils a two-car swansong for its naturally aspirated V12 engine

One is coupe called Invencible and the other, a roadster named Autentica

Lamborghini is one firm that likes to extract the maximum out of a car, irrespective of the time taken. The firm’s flagship V12 Aventador supercar made its debut in 2011, but it continued to sell the same until 2022. Between this decade, Lamborghini spawned more than a dozen models and special edition units out of the Aventador. And with electrification right around the corner, the Italian firm has unveiled two one-off supercars, Invencible and Autentica, to bid the final farewell to Aventador’s naturally-aspirated 6.5-litre V12 engine.

The Lamborghini Invencible, a coupe, and the Autentic, a roadster, borrow design cues from previous iterations that also housed the 6.5-litre V12. The extensive use of carbon fibre and quest to instil lightness into the supercars comes inspired by Sesto Elemento, the unhinged approach to aerodynamics from Veneno and the unique aeronautical style from the Reventon. Lamborghini Centro Stile takes the credit for such typical Lamborghini design behind both cars. The in-house department took this opportunity to “represent the very peak of Lamborghini’s exclusive accent on personalisation”.

Both cars boast a host of similarities but with distinct characteristics as well. For instance, both Invencible and Autentic get carbon fibre bodywork and are based on the same carbon fibre monocoque chassis from the Aventador. However, the Invencible gets a large wing at the rear, while the Autentica makes do with a motorsport-derived wing accompanied by a pair of fins. Both cars feature an imposing bonnet lifted off the Essenza SCV12 and innovative hexagonal LED rear lights inspired by the Sian. The air intakes are reminiscent of the Sesto Elemento, while the central triple exhaust is fitted with Inconel tips – a high-performance steel alloy derived from the aerospace industry. The interior gets no infotainment system to stay aligned with Sesto Elemento’s aspired lightweight traits. Minimalist design with a back-to-basics carbon-infused steering wheel and 3D printed air-con vents further substantiate the lightweight approach.

The red bodywork on the Invencible coupe is called Rosso Efesto, with carbon elements enhanced by ‘red flakes’. Tricolour accents, a tribute to the Italian flag, can be seen running down the door linings and steering wheel. The interior gets matching upholstery with Rosso Alala leather and Nero Cosmus Alcantara.

The Auténtica roadster features bodywork in Grigio Titans with details in Matt Black. The open-air interior boasts elegant Giallo Taurus embroidery, contrasting Nero Ade leather upholstery and two-tone Alcantara.

The Lamborghini Invencible and Autentica will be the last cars equipped with the naturally aspirated 12-cylinder 6.5-litre engine before transitioning to the hybrid era. The power output in this swansong edition is rated at 770hp and 720Nm torques. The engine gets mated to a seven-speed ISR gearbox with four-wheel-drive.
