Mercedes-AMG has announced the launch of the CLA 45 4MATIC+, a high-performance electric compact vehicle, offered in two body variants – Saloon and Shooting Brake. It features an advanced three-motor electric system, all-wheel drive, an adaptive suspension system, and active aerodynamic elements.
According to Mercedes-Benz, the CLA 45 4MATIC+ is also known for winning the 2026 European Car of the Year title and for achieving excellent Euro NCAP safety results.
What powers the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4MATIC+?
The CLA 45 4MATIC+ is driven by three axial-flux electric motors producing 670 BHP (500 kW). It takes 2.7 seconds for the CLA 45 4MATIC+ to reach 0-100 kmph.
Two motors are installed on the rear axle and one on the front axle. Power is delivered via the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system.
What chassis and drive technologies are available with it?
The vehicle is equipped with the AMG RIDE CONTROL adaptive suspension system. It allows selecting various suspension settings, such as Comfort, Sport, and AMGFORCE S+. Moreover, the damping system continuously adjusts to the road and driving conditions at each wheel.
Additionally, the driver can switch between seven drive modes of AMG DYNAMIC SELECT, ranging from economical to dynamic. With the AMG Dynamic+ option package, AMG TRACK PACE is also included. It records over 80 vehicle data points several times per second in track conditions.
AMGFORCE S+ provides simulated gear shifts, sounds, and haptic feedback that emulate the characteristics of the driving experience of combustion-engine sports cars.
How do the exterior and interior look compared to the regular CLA?
The CLA 45 4MATIC+ includes styling elements specific to the AMG line, such as a new front-end design, an optional illuminated grille, and a rear diffuser-like bumper. In addition, depending on the body style, the vehicle is equipped with an active rear spoiler (Saloon) or an active roof-edge spoiler (Shooting Brake).
In terms of interior equipment, the car features AMG Performance seats, an AMG steering wheel, unique finishes, and specific upholstery in order to create a driver-oriented atmosphere inside the cabin.
What about the driving range and charging capacity?
Mercedes-AMG reports WLTP driving range figures of up to 670 kilometres for one model version and up to 640 kilometres for another variant, depending on the selected body and equipment.
The CLA 45 4MATIC+ is based on the 800-volt electric powertrain and supports ultra-fast DC charging at up to 330 kW. According to Mercedes-AMG, charging from 10% to 80% takes around 22 minutes, while 10 minutes of charging adds more than 270 kilometres of driving range under certain conditions.
Price, availability, and launch details
Both the Saloon and Shooting Brake versions of the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4MATIC+ will go on sale simultaneously at launch. The price information will be revealed officially later. The cars emit zero CO2 tailpipe emissions and offer WLTP energy consumption of 16.5-19.6 kWh/100 km, depending on the specific model.
