India, BMW Has Just Launched A Special X7

The new variant is based on the 40i M Sport derivative.

What you see here is called the BMW X7 40i M Sport 50 Jahre M Edition. Quite a mouthful, isn’t it?! But then, it does have a price tag to match. It’s INR 1.205 crore. Simple math reveals that the new derivative costs INR 2 lakh more than the standard X7 40i M Sport. That’s what BMW took as the base and added some embellishments.

So, what are those? First, the brake callipers are black and not blue, like on the standard 40i M Sport. Second, the kidney grille, window surrounds, and tailpipe finishers are in high gloss black. Third, the celebratory version comes with a ‘BMW 50 Jahre M’ emblem and door projectors with the same branding. Fourth, the 21-inch Y-spoke alloys are in Jet Black. Fifth, you get M seatbelts indoors. And lastly, there X7 50 Jahre M Edition is available in just two colours – Mineral White and Carbon Black.

The rest of the package remains identical to the donor variant. So, under the bonnet is a 3.0-litre, turbocharged six-cylinder petrol engine that produces 335bhp/450Nm. Mated to the powerplant is an 8-speed automatic transmission that routes the oomph to all four wheels via BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system. The setup is enough for a 0-100kmph sprint time of 6.1 seconds.

Features? As you’d expect, the list is quite long. And it includes adaptive 2-axle air suspension, launch control function, BMW Laserlight tech, a two-part tailgate with automatic operation and soft-closing doors. Indoors, the X7 40i M Sport 50 Jahre M Edition offers five-zone automatic climate control, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, two 10.2-inch screens for rear-seat entertainment, head-up display, wireless smartphone integration, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

Under the safety section, the X7 offers Active Park Distance Control, Hill Descent Control, a tyre pressure indicator, an electric parking brake with auto hold, M Sport brakes and Attentiveness Assistant.

The X7 becomes India’s ‘fifth 50 Jahre M Edition’ model. Five more are in the pipeline, with the 340i, M4 Competition, 630i and the 530i already receiving the celebratory décor.
