In yet another push towards hydrogen-powered mobility, Hyundai has unveiled the all-new Nexo fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) at the 2025 Seoul Mobility Show. Forget hybrids. Forget even BEVs. The Nexo takes the hydrogen game up several notches with a projected range of over 700km from just a five-minute refuel. It sometimes takes more time to grab a coffee!
New Hyundai Nexo’s Bold Design
Built on Hyundai’s Initium concept, the Nexo adopts the brand’s new ‘Art of Steel’ design philosophy — an aesthetic that’s apparently rooted in the strength and versatility of its core materials. Sharp lines, sculpted surfaces, and a robust yet elegant silhouette make it equally at home pulling up to a city café or conquering a mountain trail.

At the front, the ‘HTWO’ Lamps blend seamlessly into the architecture, radiating a distinctly futuristic vibe while symbolizing Hyundai’s hydrogen-powered HTWO sub-brand. With six expressive colors, including the tranquil ‘Goyo Copper Pearl,’ the Nexo is as much a design statement as it is an engineering one.
The Tech-Savvy Hyundai Nexo Interior
Inside, you get a premium cockpit with a dual 12.3-inch curved display, island-style center console, and soft-touch materials. The digital side mirrors and “Furnished Space” layout make the interior almost feel like a first-class lounge on wheels.
New Premium Relaxation Seats in the front offer leg rests and are designed for ultimate long-distance comfort. Meanwhile, the rear passengers get more headroom, reclining angle, and even ventilated seats. And yes, you can toss all your eco-shopping in the back thanks to a max cargo capacity of 993 litres.

Hyundai didn’t hold back on tech. The new ccNC (Connected Car Navigation Cockpit) integrates AI voice recognition, OTA updates, and a sleek dual-screen setup. There’s wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bang & Olufsen audio with 14 speakers, and even a head-up display projecting key driving info directly onto the windshield. Want to charge your phone wirelessly? The Nexo features a dual wireless charging pad with cooling fans, integrated NFC, and 15W USB fast charging.
New Hyundai Nexo Hydrogen Powertrain
Hyundai has performed a major redesign on the powertrain. The new-generation fuel cell stack now generates 147hp, up 16% compared to the previous generation. The electric motor now produces 201hp, a 40hp improvement over the older model. The total system output now stands at 255hp, leading to a 7.2 second 0-100km/h run — a 1.4 second improvement.
Beyond raw numbers, the Nexo’s hydrogen stack has been refined for cold-weather usability, efficiency, and durability. Thanks to upgraded membranes and anti-freezing tech, this SUV is ready for year-round, all-climate performance. And here’s the real kicker: Hyundai has managed to increase the hydrogen tank capacity from 6.33 kg to 6.69 kg without intruding into cabin space, thanks to clever packaging.
There’s also V2L functionality, letting you power household devices from your car, both inside and out. Safety? Absolutely stacked. The Nexo includes up to nine airbags, a radar-based rear occupant alert system, and a digital center mirror with a camera cleaning system for crystal-clear visibility. ADAS features cover everything from Forward Collision Avoidance and Smart Cruise Control to Remote Smart Parking Assist 2. Hyundai wants the Nexo to score top marks across every major safety program, and it likely will.
