Honda’s all-new third-gen HR-V Crossover launched

It comes with modular Magic Seats that can be folded, tipped, or split

Crossovers have taken over most of all new car launches we’ve been witnessing recently. And Honda continues with the trend as it announces the launch of the brand-new third-generation HR-V crossover.

The HR-V is touted as one of Honda’s best-selling models, with over 200,000 units sold globally. This third-gen model is longer and wider than its predecessor and gets an all-new exterior and overhauled interior.

One can easily distinguish the new Honda HR-V with its imposing and new front grille, a longer hood and a sharply tapered C-pillar. The sharp new headlight and taillight units further add to the distinguishing factor of the new HR-V along with those stylish 17-inch alloys.

Customers of the second-generation HR-V would find it hard to relate to the cabin on this crossover. The interior of this third-gen vehicle has gone through a major overhaul with a lot more technology and digital displays getting injected. Features such as a 4.2-inch driver digital display, an 8-inch infotainment system, a glazed panoramic sunroof, and touch interior lighting are welcome additions to the HR-V. However, the party piece of the HR-V has to be the modular ‘Magic Seats’ that can be folded, tipped or split depending on the cargo required to carry. In essence, the new Honda HR-V can easily accommodate both a cycle and a surfboard.

Powering the new HR-V is a 119hp 1.5-litre petrol engine. The engine gets mated to a CVT transmission though the driver does benefit from paddle shifters on the steering wheel. Being a Honda, the HR-V also features Honda’s award-winning Sensing suite of safety features comprising Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist System, Road Departure Mitigation System among many others, to keep its occupants safe and avoid accidents.

The new Honda HR-V is now available for sale with prices starting at Dhs 89,900 (or $24,475).
