Haim Watch Company – a Chicago based microbrand – has introduced the Legacy Automatic: Starry Pearl. Part of the brand’s “Legacy” collection, it features an aventurine dial with an outer mother-of-pearl ring.

Hands are redesigned from earlier Legacy models. Applied Roman numeral hour-markers are pewter-coloured. Applied railroad style seconds scale.

Movement
Image: The movement is based on ETA architecture. I am sure it can be serviced by competent watchmakers worldwide. Notice the detailing on the automatic winding rotor.
Powered by HWC-1, a custom designed automatic movement. It powers the hours, minutes, seconds, and hacking seconds. All operations are via the crown.
Jewels: 26. Frequency: 28,800 vph or 4 Hz. Power reserve: 38 hours.
Movement finishing: Bead blasted and rhodium finish. It features blued screws, and gold-plated accents on the winding-rotor, gear train and the surrounding base of the movement.
HWC-1 is 100% built in the United States. It allows the brand “to have greater control over quality and performance. With normal wear, a maintenance intervention is recommended every three to five years.”
Case
Image: Notice the coin edge bezel, the brand’s reinterpretation of “Cornes De Vache” lugs (French for “cow horns), the brand’s name embossed on the crown, and bespoke leather strap by Delugs.
Case is made from titanium TA2 and is hand polished. It features a subtle coin edge bezel and hollowed lugs.
Diameter: 38 mm. Thickness: 10.80 mm. Lug-to-lug distance: 45 mm. Lug width: 20 mm.
Dial side features a sapphire crystal with 5 layers of anti-reflective coating. Caseback features a sapphire crystal with dual anti-reflective coating.
Water resistant up to 50 metres or 164 feet.
Watch comes with a bespoke handmade “Stone Grey” crocodile leather strap from Delugs with quick release technology. Delugs is a renowned Singapore based brand that designs and manufactures watch straps.

The Legacy Automatic: Starry Pearl packs quite a punch. USD$ 1649.99 gets you an aventurine and mother-of-pearl dial, a case with well executed details, an automatic movement based on dependable ETA architecture, a bespoke Delugs strap, and at 25 pieces planned, rarity.
Microbrands do not have it easy as they lack the resources of larger watch brands. Being based in the US, Haim Watch Company lacks access to a Swiss style ecosystem of watch industry suppliers and specialists. Yet its founder – M. Zakir Miah – has persevered and consistently delights the horological marketplace with his creations.
M. Zakir Miah is an avid watch collector and an engineer. His brand’s watches reflect both his passion for horology and his engineering mindset. The Legacy Automatic: Starry Pearl is a worthy addition to Haim Watch Company’s Legacy lineup. I look forward to seeing one in the flesh and doing a hands-on review.
