Key Features
Functions
Hours and minutes.
Small seconds near 10 o’clock.
Dial
Image: Notice the Aston Martin Racing Green shade hands (including the small seconds hand), hour-markers, and the GP logo at 12 o’clock. Notice the large barrel between 5 and 6 o’clock.
Dial reveals the open worked movement.
“This movement, derived from the famous GP01800 calibre, is treated using a galvanic process (anthracite grey ruthenium) and worked like a metal net. It enables the eye to follow the movement of energy thanks to the rhodium-plated geartrain.”
Skeletonised baton-shaped hour and minute hands and suspended hour-markers are green-PVD treated and coated with luminescent material (green emission).
Movement
Image: Notice the free-sprung balance wheel at 12 o’clock. The skeletonised automatic winding rotor is made from pink gold and green-PVD treated – the same Aston Martin Racing Green shade as the dial side elements. Notice the metallised Aston Marin logo on the sapphire crystal. Caseback is screwed to the main case.
Powered by GP01800-2627 – an open worked version of the brand’s automatic GP01800 calibre that drives the hours, minutes, and small seconds. Parts: 173. Jewels: 25. Diameter: 30 mm or 13 ¼ lignes. Thickness: 4.16 mm. Frequency: 28,800 vph or 4 Hz. Power reserve: 54 hours.
Movement features a variable inertial or free-sprung balance wheel, ensuring “enhanced shock resistance, long-term reliability, and improved chronometric precision.”
Movement finishing: 55 hand-crafted interior angles. Main plate and bridges are black-PVD treated and feature 4 hand-finished techniques: bevelling, sandblasting, traits-tirés, and circular satin.
Case and Bracelet
Image: Ceramic case and bracelet. “Seven times harder than steel and very resistant to scratching. Moreover, ceramic is lightweight, hypo allergenic and supremely smooth. Therefore, the iconic octagonal bezel is formed of ceramic and enriched with circular satin finishing, while the ceramic case features horizontal satin finishing.” Notice the bracelet features both polished and satin finishes.
Case is made from black ceramic. Diameter: 42 mm. Thickness: 11.13 mm.
Dial side features a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. Caseback features a sapphire crystal. Water resistant up to 100 metres.
Integrated bracelet is made from black ceramic.
Our Thoughts
Image: The Laureato Skeleton Aston Martin Edition is perfect for watch collectors seeking an iconic design with a sophisticated hand-finished movement, or for Aston Martin owners seeking the perfect watch for their choice of wheels, whether the DBX SUV or Valkyrie hypercar.
The Laureato Skeleton Aston Martin Edition blends traditional watchmaking with modern elements and beautifully evokes the essence of an Aston Martin. It is an example of a watch and automotive brand collaboration done right. It might appeal to collectors of both brands.
The Laureato is a versatile platform for Girard-Perregaux. Recently they celebrated the iconic collection’s 50th anniversary by launching the Laureato 42 mm Infinite Grey, a model with a grand feu enamel dial.
