Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin Extend Partnership

One of the most iconic, creative and innovative watchmaking-automotive collaboration.

Girard-Perregaux, the La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland based prestigious watchmaker, and Aston Martin, the Gaydon, England based prestigious automotive marque have extended their “hugely successful collaboration” which began in 2021. Executive Chairman of Aston Marin, Lawrence Stroll, and President & Chief Executive Officer of Girard-Perregaux, Patrick Pruniaux, “have signed an agreement that will carry the two companies forward together, delighting fans, owners and collectors of both brands.”

“Together, we’ve built a partnership and a friendship, we’ve built some incredible watches, and we’ve built each other up, elevating perceptions of both brands. It’s been the perfect marriage and we’re extremely excited to continue it.”  Patrick Pruniaux – President & Chief Executive Officer of Girard-Perregaux.

Girard-Perregaux:

Girard-Perregaux was founded in 1791 by Jean-François Bautte and is one of the oldest Swiss watchmakers. Their timepiece families include the Laureato, Bridges, 1966, Vintage 1945, and Cat’s Eye. Their Tourbillon with Three Gold Bridges is one of the most iconic designs in horology.

“Rooted in its heritage, Girard-Perregaux is driven by the instinct to always look ahead, embracing new technologies, utilising state-of-the-art-materials, and finding inventive ways to bring joy by reimagining iconic shapes. To this end, Girard-Perregaux has remained a human-sized Manufacture, and in 2022 became part of an independent collective of Haute Horlogerie Manufactures alongside sister Maison Ulysee Nardin.”

Aston Martin Lagonda:

Aston Martin was founded in 1913 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford. Lagonda, founded in 1899, joined together with Aston Martin in 1947, when the late Sir David Brown acquired both.

Aston Martin is one of the most prestigious automotive marques in the world, renown for several of the most iconic and beautiful performance cars in the world, such as the Vantage, DB12 Super Tourer, DBS, Vanquish, DB11 and DB9 to name a few.

“Aston Martin fuses the latest technology, time honoured craftsmanship and beautiful styling to produce a range of critically acclaimed luxury models including the Vantage, DB12, DBS, DBX and its first hypercar, the Aston Martin Valkyrie. Aligned with its Racing. Green. sustainability strategy, Aston Martin is also developing alternatives to the internal combustion engine, with an ambition to create the world’s most thrilling and highly desirable electric performance cars, the first of which is targeted for launch in 2025.”

Girard-Perregaux – Aston Martin Partnership:

Both brands first came together as Global Partners in 2021. The timing was significant as Girard-Perregaux was preparing to celebrate its 230th anniversary of its founding, and Aston Martin was about to reveal its new F1® car as part of its Aston Martin Aramco Formula One® Team. This was Aston Martin’s return to Formula One® motor racing after a hiatus of more than 60 years. Since their alliance began, the Aston Martin F1® car has borne the Girard-Perregaux logo. Both brands have co-developed “five beautifully crafted limited-edition watches together, celebrating the design, engineering, performance and innovation of both brands.”  These include:

2021: Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges Aston Martin Edition.

2021: Laureato Chronograph Aston Martin Edition.

2022: Carbon Fibre Laureato Absolute Chronograph Aston Martin F1 Edition.

2023: Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin Edition.

2023: New Bridges Aston Martin Edition.

“Each watch championed the shared innovations and technologies of each company. For example, the case of the Laureato Absolute Chronograph AM F1 Edition featured a composite material created using titanium powder and carbon elements taken from the Aston Martin F1® car used in the 2021 season, while others featured movement parts designed by Aston Martin and colourways matching the F1® cars’ famous green livery. They also subtly integrated the Aston Martin logotype into the designs, and always channelled the superlative standards of craftsmanship and finishing common to both companies.”

Incorporating design, technical elements, and the soul of an automotive marque into a timepiece is no small feat. Often, such alliances have little in common. Both Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin have done a fantastic job with these five timepieces. Girard-Perregaux has remained true to its horological roots and design codes, while at the same time incorporating design elements of Aston Martin, ensuring that the ‘essence’ of Aston Martin is visible in them.

By renewing their partnership, the next cycle of creative collaboration between Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin promises to be exciting, with phenomenal timepieces planned.
