Ferrari unveiled a truly special car, the 296 Speciale with the Piloti Ferrari configuration, right before the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. This exclusive model, part of Ferrari’s Tailor Made program, celebrates their impressive wins in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and honours their dedicated client racing drivers. It made its perfect debut at the Circuit de la Sarthe, where the famous French endurance race is held. This exclusive version is reserved for Ferrari clients who are actively involved in their official racing activities, reflecting their vital role in Ferrari’s racing heritage.
The Piloti Ferrari 296 Speciale comes in four distinct racing colours: Rosso Scuderia, Blu Tour De France, Nero Daytona, and Argento Nürburgring. Its exterior design is directly inspired by the victorious 499P Hypercar, which famously won Le Mans in both 2023 and 2024. The car features a Giallo Modena finish, a hand-painted WEC logo, an Italian flag on the front, and a customizable number chosen by the client. The car shown at Le Mans proudly bore number 51, commemorating the 2023 victory that marked Ferrari’s grand return to top-tier endurance racing during the race’s centenary.
Inside, you’ll find racing seats upholstered in sophisticated black Alcantara®, with inserts made from the same fireproof fabric used in official driver suits. The car’s race number is subtly integrated into the interior carbon fibre, and even the metal footwell can be personalized. Every detail emphasizes the intense driving experience and shared camaraderie of those passionate about competition. A personalized carbon identification plaque and an exclusive carbon-fibre door sill add the final bespoke touches.
The 296 Speciale itself is an extreme evolution of Ferrari’s mid-rear-engined Berlinetta, designed to maximize driving enjoyment. Its plug-in hybrid system combines a twin-turbo V6 engine with an electric motor, delivering a staggering 880 cv (horsepower). The combustion engine is lighter and stronger, incorporating Formula 1-derived components, while the 8-speed DCT transmission is optimized for quicker, more engaging gear changes. The car also boasts a lighter dry weight of 1410 kg and a 20% increase in aerodynamic downforce compared to the standard 296 GTB. The chassis has been refined for sharper track handling, and a new “extra boost” software strategy unleashes full power during high-performance laps. Impressively, it hits 0-100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and has a top speed exceeding 330 km/h.
The 499P Hypercar, which serves as the inspiration for this Speciale edition, marked Ferrari’s return to the top class of the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2023 after a 50-year absence. It features a carbon-fibre monocoque chassis and a hybrid powertrain delivering around 680 cv.
Finally, the Ferrari Tailor Made program is all about allowing clients to fully personalize their Ferrari, creating a car that perfectly reflects their unique character and tastes with the guidance of experts and a personal designer. This program ensures each customized Ferrari remains a unique blend of exclusivity, elegance, and personal style.
