Ferrari Roma Spider Launched In The UAE

Dropping the soft top takes 13.5 seconds.

It was earlier this year when Ferrari unveiled the Roma Spider for the first time. Now, it has been launched in the UAE, courtesy of Al Tayer Motors – the exclusive importer of Ferrari in the country. The convertible sports car was revealed to a select few at an event on November 15, 2023, in Dubai. The list of invitees included existing Ferrari owners as well.

In case you’re not aware, the Roma Spider is the first front-engined Ferrari to boast a fabric top since 1969. Also, the last Ferrari to feature a soft roof was the F430 Spider from 2005. When you consider both those aspects, the Roma Spider does come out to be a special model donning the famed prancing horse. And that fabric roof can be opened or closed in 13.5 seconds at speeds up to 60kmph.

Powering the Roma Spider is the same 3.9-litre V8 that does duty in the coupe version. With 612hp/760Nm on tap, the convertible can hit 100kmph from a standstill in 3.4 seconds. Keep the throttle pressed hard, and 200 comes up in 9.7 seconds. Flat out, it’ll sail past 320kmph. Playing a crucial role in delivering such performance figures is an F1-derived 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. However, the Roma coupe is slightly quicker than the Spider version. That’s down to the aerodynamics and the 84kg extra weight the latter carries because of a reinforced chassis at the back end.

Indoors, there’s little to differentiate between the two siblings. As with all Ferraris, the focus is on the driver. So, the busy steering wheel is accompanied by a crisp and large digital instrument cluster. The features list also includes 18-way powered seats, automatic climate control and an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system. And almost everything one touches is draped in leather, though a plethora of personalisation options are available.

Ferrari’s extended seven-year maintenance programme is available with the Roma Spider. Like with all other Ferrari models, this package covers all regular maintenance for the first seven years of the car’s life.
